Today, we will be using Google Trends to compare the search trends between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. Who are people searching for???

Ghana :: 75

As you can see from the scores, the only two countries where Manny Pacquiao is relevant is in the Philippines and Guam. His interest in other countries has declined considerably over the past few years.
Floyd Mayweather, on the other hand, has been capturing the fan bases of his past opponents such as Puerto Rico's Miguel Cotto and the United Kingdom's Ricky Hatton.
Before you Pac fans say, "Yeah you looking at google trends, Manny Pacquiao is more popular in Asia!"
Ok, we'll take a look at the Baidu Index (China's main search engine).
We will be searching with their names written in Chinese. 弗洛伊德·梅威瑟 for Floyd and 曼尼·帕奎奥 for Manny.

Floyd is seeing a steady increase in popularity in China. The only other active boxer searched more than Mayweather is China's very own Zou Shiming.
Manny Pacquiao? Sorry, not enough data available! He just fought in China and people aren't even searching for him...
So looking at the data. The question I must ask is: Where is this huge Mexican fanbase that Manny has? Where is this huge international fanbase that he supposedly has?
It's obvious that the only people that still care about Manny is Filipinos, and you know they're barely buying PPVs nowadays. 475k buys? Ouch.
Even looking at stats for the term "mayweather vs pacquiao", the only place where it's peaking is in the Philippines. So when you hear these guys on NSB saying "it's the only fight fans want to see!" .. No buddy, it's the fight Filipinos want to see.
