I can only speculate it's because he doesn't have as much control and influence as he is used to. All I know is most of his statements in the media function to prevent the fight, not make it.

Add to this his past actions, like taking Manny to get stitches from his son in law, the stadium stuff, the date being disrespectful to Mexicans, etc.
