Now if somehow Maidana loses his next fight, then that might throw a spanner in the works
No, May is a Mexican holiday aswell. "Cinco De Mayo".

I think Floyd has options. Danny Garcia is one that I think likely happens in September, then there's Keith Thurman if he continues to win impressively.

It's Maidana or Khan in May, then likely Garcia in September. That's what I'd expect.

Not "and", "or". One or the other.

I think it should be Maidana. He has a belt at 147, coming off 3 impressive victories, has the Mexican crowd behind him for Cinco De Mayo in May.

If he get's through that, Garcia in September.

    • Maidan has no chance to win

Khan didnt looked impressive in his last outings but has a big fan base, Maidana deserves a shot but might not bring the ppv numbers in. So its up to Showtime to decide...

Beating Broner doesnt mean you have improved

Maidana seems to be unimproved everytime he steps up against a decent boxer, see Devon
I wrote this on BLH on July 20th, 2013:

Maidana story still has two possible ends: I think Maidana can beat Broner and become something more than a very decent B fighter, as somebody has said. Let me explain it a bit. After Maidana lost to Khan (he didn’t lost to Kotelnik, he was robbed) it was obvious he needed to improve his game. His trainer at the moment, Miguel Díaz (another Argentinian, a well known cutman), said Chino was too old to learn new things. Díaz is a good strategist (his blueprint against Khan was successfully imitated by Peterson and Danny Garcia), but Chino needed more than that and left him. Then Chino started a difficult transition, which became further complicated because he and his team decided to go to 147. Nacho Beristain agreed to train him, but when Chino arrived to Mexico Beristain changed his mind. It seems that Márquez wasn’t happy with the idea of Beristain training Chino. So Chino’s manager, Sebastián Contursi, got Rudy Pérez, who had trained Marco Antonio Barrera. Maidana started improving, but… Bad luck… Pérez fell very sick (he died days ago) and, when Chino had to fight Alexander, Pérez wasn’t even in his corner. Maidana looked very bad against Alexander, and this could mean that slick boxers will always outbox Chino, but it can also be seen as a very special fight: first Chino fight at 147, in his opponent’s backyard, in an early stage of his new training and even without his new trainer in his corner. Then they got Robert Garcia and things started to change very quickly. In brief, after a difficult transition, we could think Maidana has improved some things, but he is essentially the same and can’t get to the top. I would say the opposite is equally probable. My prediction: Maidana will KO Broner.

          • I love Maidana, but Sr. is right. Floyd would pick him apart.

            • He might do it, he might beat him. He is faster and has lots of Boxing sense

              BUT

              the intangibles are there.

All my points 20 of yours to 1 of mine that the much slower, can't hurt nobody Chino Maidana beats the sh## out of your Joy jr.

Chino has a punchers chance is the basis of everyone's argument, imo that punch will never come

Chino can have one more fight and still fight Money in September.

Who else will May face asides from Khan and Maidana? Garcia isnt going to fight Floyd until 2015, Broner is out of the picture, Devon is gone...

Floyd will fight Maidana and Khan, just a matter which one he fights first
As far as a September opponent, a lot can happen between now and then to make someone the new hot ticket for Floyd. Case in point, Khan was the rumor and out of nowhere comes Maidana as a potential opponent. One of these guys can get May but that doesn't mean the other will get September.

Maidana accounts for himself better than these 4 opponents.

                      Ortiz- lacks mentality big time

Ghost- less power and no crazy angles or surprising range... jab is mediocre as well

Mosley- older, wouldnt go out on his shield... about equal power but Maidana more relentless. Mosley became to wary of counters.

Canelo- had all the tools but didnt apply pressure.. tried to box THE BEST BOXER OF THIS GENERATION like a young fool instead. So mentality off.

maidana.. veteran, relentless, powerful, awkward, iron chin will try to walk through counters and pound the body and go quick up top, mauling.., can switch to a very nice jab and lobbing straight right hands from range as well.

he will account for himself better than those 4...I guarantee it
