Don't know about you guys but Sergio has much better resume, Compared to these two jokers. I'm why he didn't get as rich as these two ?

he didnt fight oscar dela hoya lol ... For real .. he does not speak english which plays a minor part ... e****ially if you don't have mxico behind you and he didn't have big name opponents... pac floyd had cotto mosley... hatton was huge .. and big money crossover to the masses Dlh .... sergio had pwill which wasn't big time known to casuals pavlik as well ... also pac and mayweather are all time greats ... sergio martinez is just very good

Combination of potential reasons I think..

          - Argentine (limited US population of Argentinos)
          - He doesn't speak English
          - His team doesn't speak English
          - Fought mostly non-American opposition
          - Fights in a division without much US talent
          - Fights on the backfoot
          - Not a KO artist
          - No De La Hoya as opponent

I'm sure there are more reasons but those are enough to limit his popularity.

I think it's because he was stopped by Margarito, almost got KO'd by numerous euro bums and a pothead cash cow and his best achievements are a KO over Paul Williams, a robbery over Martin Murray and barely outpointing an alcoholic who spent half his training camp in intensive care and rehab. And people had the audacity to say he would give Floyd trouble (lmao! ). AND instead of manning up and fighting Golovkin (who's called him out for 2 and a half years) or Quillin (who's called him out for almost 2 years), he'd rather fight blown up 160 lb Cotto (who will beat Sergio's ass).

He was a lil late to the game but then when he finally got his stardom fight he won but he always got retired during that fight.

Chavez jr took everything martinez had out of him.

Pacquiao and Mayweather are not jokers. They are much better fighters than Martinez PFP and they have much better records. You have to earn fame and fortune. It isn't just handed to you. Martinez lost to Williams and Margarito and he drew with Cintron. He is a good fighter but he will never go down in history being considered in the same class with Mayweather or Pacquiao in my opinion. Right now he has been avoiding his #1 challenger GGG for two years and if he does get the courage to fight him he will get KOed in my opinion.

He started late, gained a decent resume late, gained a good resume even later, and now that he is popular enough for he other popular fighters to start noticing that he brings some money to the table, and real interest from both casuals and hardcore fans he is nearly 40 years old. If he would have racked up those Pavlik, Williams, Chavez Jr wins earlier in his career, he would have had a chance at being as popular as at least Cotto and prime Mosley but never DLH/May/Pac level unless he actually fought them,

When you beat a superstar, you become a superstar. Only problem is, that opportunity isn't given to you just because you're tearing through a couple of unranked(not in the top 10) bums and lower ranked opponents. You have to actually show that you have star potential but just need a bit of a boost, a dance partner who's more established than you, to put you on there. But make no mistake, you already need to be a star to become a superstar. DLH was a star before fighting Chavez Sr, Mayweather was a star before fighting DLH, Pacquiao was a star before fighting DLH. Martinez is not a star yet but he's close.Problem with being "close" is that he's old as f-ck. When he becomes a star, the superstars will take notice and deem him worthy of an opponent.
