If Rigo's co-promoter, Caribe promotions, really thinks he would be a draw in Florida, he should fight on ESPN and prove it. The gate should make up for the low ESPN purse. (if he is a draw)

    Lamont Peterson did this.

I know the money sucks, but if he's not gonna take the HBO 350k offer, then what other TV option does he have? The most important thing is to keep showcasing his skill/talent on TV.

Rigo is so boring that the people who actually paid money to to watch him fight live against Agbeko walked out after a few rounds. How does he expect people who are sitting on their couches, remote in hand, to stay tuned in? The bottom line is that winning isn't always good enough. When you have a dead man in front of you, you need to go for the kill. No one wants to see Rigo pick away at a shelled up corpse for 12 rounds. It may be masterful boxing, but its boring and cowardly.

He's not the only one, either. Mayweather gets away with this **** because his mouth keeps people tuned in. Wlad gets away with it because he's the heavyweight champion and because Eastern European fans are more discerning. Rigo does not have these luxuries, and I wish those two didn't either.

And Avalos is a come forward guy Rigo needs to look good. But he just came off a 750k payday, and rightfully feels he's p4p. But he should remember how much he's got working against him. Calderon and Roman Gonzalez may have been p4p without ever getting on HBO (or even Showtime?!) or making a 150k purse, I'd guess. And Calderon is PR, and Gonzalez has an exciting style.

A lot of the people that showed up to that card in AC were there to see Tapia, who's from New Jersey. After watching Glen get beat up, many of them didn't have the desire to watch any more fights. Anyone that came to see Rigo pretty much knew what they might expect. I know I wouldn't be going anywhere, not after dishing out cash and going out of my way.

Also, the more often he fights on HBO, the more willing fighters will be to step up. Quigg/Frampton/Kiko are looking to make fights with each other, completely ignoring Rigo. Hopefully he changes his mind and takes the HBO/Avalos offer.

Avalos and 350k were offered up for the Pacquiao- Rios undercard. Rigo said no. I don't know how accurate this is, but I've heard said that Guillermo's contract minimum is 500k. Rigo might have simply stood firm on his contract.

Take it from Money Mayweather, "Boxing is business."

Given those two options, waiting for Agbeko probably was the best move because it paid more and it was against a name. And as much as -Kev- pretends to, nobody really saw Agbeko's performance coming.

That's a large minimum, especially for a guy in Rigo's position. I just hope that this situation ends well and that we get to see Rigo fight on TV at least twice next year.
