Hershman's done a great job considering all that happened at HBO under Greenburg. Greenburg wasted the budget on appearance fights and over paying for bad fights. HBO is making better fights and not wasting as much money on appearance fights.

the GBP break was logical because GBP was just trying to use HBO to develop fighters and then putting them on Showtime once they became known.

Showtime under Espinoza is Golden Boy TV basically.

plus GBP totally undercut HBO's Chavez vs Martinez PPV when GBP insisted putting Canelo against Josesito Lopez on the same night.

how often does Showtime/GBP/Haymon put on cards the same night as HBO even though HBO announced it 1st?

GBP has done a lot of s hit to undercut HBO since they got their man Espinoza in at Showtime.

HBO did cut out GBP and Haymon but they work with everybody else. Showtime mostly just works with GBP and Haymon but not so much with the others

You're actually wrong: GBP announced their Canelo card way before HBO planned to put on Martinez-Chavez.

They were announced within days of each other. However, GBP had to regroup when Josesito ruined their plans, and they wound up making Canelo/Lopez to save face imo.

I dont get why everyone is ripping this interview...

He seemed pretty honest and in-depth when he was giving his perspective of GBP, GGG, floyd/manny, etc.

Yes he is always gonna brag about HBO, and try and downplay showtime, thats what he is suppose to do, thats his job.

All in all i think it was a refreshing interview, from a different point of view than we normally dont get to hear from

As for GGG fighting serg, chavez jr, ward, stevenson, kovolev,,,, He is looking at fights based on a tv executive approach, and those fights are the most ratings and $$$$$$

            nope

Arum/DiBella reserved the date with HBO in February of that year, the only difference is they didn't publicly announce it. it didn't become an issue until Canelo/GBP announced publicly May 5th after his fight with Mosley.

Canelo didn't have an opponent when he announced it, it wasn't until June 12th until Ortiz was named.

February is before May and June I believe

            just in case you ask
By Robert Morales - Boxing is a sport that seems to have more imperfections than most others. One can deal with that and stay strong, or cry about it and go home.
A passive aggressive argument for the continuation of boxing 'imperfections' such as unfair fight contracts, PED and drug politics, multiple commissions with no accountability, corruption, and character assassination by promoters on their own fighters if I ever saw one.

Why is he being ripped? He is completely complacent in his job and more than out of touch with the boxing viewing audience. He personalizes the job and that is NOT how to program a network. I don't see HBO leading the pack or trailblazing in the future as far as Boxing is concerned. Can't speak for other sports but under this leadership the boxing format will fall short.
