Roy Jones Junior is maybe the only other boxer in recent times who could've accomplished something like that.

But he would've had to turn pro early after winning the Golden Gloves at light welter, and then win a title in that weight class and move up one weight class at a time all the way to heavyweight.

Without checking, I'm pretty sure that Roy started at 154. He didn't win titles at 147 or 154, at any rate. Manny won titles over such a span of percentage of total bodyweight that it is unreal. He gained nearly half his entire starting bodyweight over the course of his career and won those titles at the extremes of those weights and numerous classes in between. It's outrageous.

Floyd's real fanatics hate him because of the threat he poses, both in the ring and in comparison. Floyd's light shines less brightly with Pacquaio's ascent.

And Pacquiao was only 16 yrs.old and 1 months when he first fought. His body was still developing and growing. When he was still fighting in the Super featheweight division. His fight night weight was already 144 lbs and above.

lets put this in perspective..he started boxing as a teenager and was malnurished...when he was coming up in the ranks he was always the bigger man in the ring...YES it is amazing how he improved as a fighter and went from nothing to an ATG.but lets not act like he is the same size as the grown men fighting at 108

Yes Jones won titles from 160 onwards, started career as professional at 154.

Whilst I give every credit for Jones HW title, i think is more comparable to Pacquiao's "run" at 154, i.e only went there once.

Pacquiao's run at 147 is much like Jones at 175, but even here the comparisons dont fit greatly

But if anything, you're comparing two legendary fighters....showing enough credit to them both

i dont think we will. pac turned pro at 16? is that right or was it 17? not many fighters do turn pro so young, obviously he hadnt finished growing and now hes a pretty big Welter who can move up to Jnr Middle or whatever. i think Alvarez could move up a few weight classes. Pac was massive in the lower weights and used to struggle to make weight apparently, i think alvarez is similar, hes meant to be between 165-170 on fight night, considering his age and the fact he made 152 recently. i think he could potentially win titles in quite a few weightclasses.

as a fighter though hes nothing like pac, its incredibly to see him KO cotto and hatton, he had incredibly power and seemed to be able to take a lot of punches. now hes definatly faded though now, his KO power isnt what it used to be (hasnt been for a while) i think if he could make 140 he'd dominate but at 147 and 154 he hasnt got the comparable power to stop people as he could. hes starting to look a bit worn now, but back in 08,09 he looked scary. its a shame we never saw Floyd v pac 4 years ago, would of been much closer than if it happened anytime soon.
