Untrue. Not sure if you know spanish but if you did you'd know how much character Rigo has. Dude's witty and funny as all sh it. Broner has no personality..zero it comes off very fake and scripted and Floyd's "personality" is almost non existant. His popularity is based off no one he's fought being able to beat him. If Rigo was in a higher weight class or spoke english he'd be much more popular.

don't forget, before hbo forced him on everyone with 24/7 minstrel show, floyd was selling no tickets and his ppv #'s were low and laughable.

Even with all the hype, he's still boring. People only watch him because the networks push him so hard, but nobody ever remembers his fights or talks about them because they're bad fights and this is against cherrypicked opponents.

At least Rigo and Lara fight top ranked guys. They don't get to choose opponents to stink out 12 rounds against.

Not when it comes to marketing in the US there really isn't. To hit the casual fan base in the US english is HUGE. Also Lara and Rigo don't have a personality that sells. Floyd is more offensive and built his own name up. There's a ton of reasons why to be honest. Also it's about who they've fought. Rigo and Lara haven't fought big names and not to mention Rigo is tiny and most American fans don't care about the little guys. I've said this a million times this thread is a carbon copy of 100 others....it's stale and a dead topic.

Ward is the worst of the four. If he fights anywhere but California, he gets disqualified for excessive holding/fouling/headbutts.

I only included him because of how hard they try to push him, when its so obvious how bad he sucks.

I watched Rigo and Lara's last two fights. Total tactical domination all fight. Yet hbo and pundits say they're boring.

I would argue they basically do the same thing Floyd and Ward do. In fact, Floyd and Ward fights are usually far more boring and ugly because of all the holding and fouling they do, especially ward.

So why are Lara/ Rigo boring and not worthy of being on hbo, but Floyd and Ward are? They all fit the same mold. Counter punchers who fight off the back foot. Floyd and Ward never even get knockdowns or knockouts. The Dawson fight doesn't count cuz' Dawson is a glass jaw with no heart. Aside from that, its always 12 horrid rounds.

Lara and Rigo get knockdowns and put out good beatings all the time.

I wonder if its bias against latino fighters. Maybe if they had more swag or yolo, hbo and showtime would push them more. I mean look at Broner, he posts ratchet **** and vids of himself pooping in public toilets and the networks love pushing him on us.

I like this thread. Although, I wouldn't put Floyd in the same boat with Rigo, Lara, and Ward. I can't stand Floyd, but he's the best fighter in the world.

I think the networks, the media, and the American fans are bias against Latino fighters. They say guys like Bernard Hopkins, Andre Ward, and Devon Alexander are master technicians and a joy to watch, but Guillermo Rigondeaux, Erislandy Lara, and Carlos Molina are skill-less and terrible to watch. Same styles, different ethnicities.

The bias is much worse for Cubans I think because of America's hatred for Fidel Castro. I think Japanese fighters are shunned too, because of Pearl Harbor. Trust me, America doesn't like countries that stand up to them. Personally, I think the Japanese and Cubans are the biggest rivals to Mexicans in regards to boxing talent. There is not as much bias against Mexicans because people enjoy the Mexican style, but Mexicans get robbed a lot, and I mean A LOT. I think that's because a loss doesn't hurt Mexican boxing that much because there is such a deep talent pool. If they rob a Mexican it doesn't matter as much because there is another good Mexican right behind him.

On the other hand, the networks try to build up these American fighters who can't afford a loss because there is not another good American right behind him. If a Mexican loses, there's 20 other good Mexicans right behind him, if an American loses, there are no other Americans.

Ward is ranked as #2 P4P -- and some see him #1...

Ward is an outstanding athlete who is mimicking boxing with great talent... In my opinion he's a genius in faking this sport... I never saw somebody like him...
