the rising stars of boxing today are not american (example: lomachenko, ggg, kovalev etc.).
I agree. I think part of it stems from the usa's amateur system. They don't seem to fight abroad as often as other countries (e.g uk, Ukraine, Russia, even Cuba). Because of this they don't get as used to foreign styles as much as their foreign counterparts. Eastern Europeans seems to really be coming on in amateur boxing these days. And it's certainly beginning to reflect in the pro ranks. Imo too many amateurs in the us are fighting on local circuits. It doesn't mean they won't produce great fighters, they still do. But it is becoming more prominent. Now that more Eastern Europeans are turning pro since they are allowed to things are really changing. It's only a matter if time until Cuba follows suit.
Funny how the "non Americans" boxers who have any intellect at all come to the States to get the best sparring! We have the best trainers, and when it comes to big fights their all here!
There's something to be said about the youth in America these days. With the studies that show terrible results of men who participate in violent sports becoming more and more tragic at the end of their careers young men are choosing other sports.
The great run of boxers in America came from the influx of immigrants from the 1860 through the 1950. Nationalities all over the world donated their boxing skills under the USA banner! The reason for the migration is that this country had more to offer them than their previous country.
The old "iron block" countries are "free" people these days yet the higher education systems there are not for everyone so the lower economic status young men are finding boxing a meaningful outlet for frustrations and possibly a means of earnings. Just as the America's new citizens did years ago.
Where does Wlad come to for sparring, who trained Wlad to bring him up to another level?
Where does the lightheavy champ live now? Who trains him?
Where does the middleweight champ train? Who trains him?
The Welter?
Light Welter? etc etc........
Hey Elroy Boy, if and when your country gets invaded who you going to beg to come help you...................that's right those "lazy Americans"!
you little tooool..........

Good post.
I think its two things.
1) The more Athletic Eastern europeans are now allowed to turn pro. With the collapse of communism you wilsee boxing and eventually MMA taken over by the eastern block.
2) American Amateur has declined horribly. With Amateurs getting very similar to Pros, the yanks are falling even further behind.
To be fair America is doing horribly in golf, tennis, soccer and every other world sport. Boxing one of the few world sports they are still relevant in, and as ive shown you can see that Hopkins, Floyd and Ward wont hold the candle forever.
BTW should i had peter quillin or should i wait for him to be koed???
tavorious cloud is fighting green Arthur tonight. The dudes only had 5 fights. If he doesnt win hes added to the list. If he wins hes back on schedule.
