Good post.

I think its two things.

1) The more Athletic Eastern europeans are now allowed to turn pro. With the collapse of communism you wilsee boxing and eventually MMA taken over by the eastern block.

2) American Amateur has declined horribly. With Amateurs getting very similar to Pros, the yanks are falling even further behind.

To be fair America is doing horribly in golf, tennis, soccer and every other world sport. Boxing one of the few world sports they are still relevant in, and as ive shown you can see that Hopkins, Floyd and Ward wont hold the candle forever.

BTW should i had peter quillin or should i wait for him to be koed???

so lets not act like the USA just breezed threw everyone in FIBA a few weeks ago, and that they have the most money making sport in the world on lock (american football). Lets act as if MMA isnt purely dominated by the USA, lets act like mayweather and ward arnt the top 2 p4p fighters and danny garcia knocked your boy khan out with ease. Lets not act like keith thurman wouldnt end kell brooks career. Lets not act like the rest of the top p4p top 5 ALL LIVE and TRAIN in the US. Yepp lets ignore all that.

Football, baseball, basketball, hockey, soccer, college football, college basketball, NASCAR, golf, and tennis are more popular than boxing. This puts boxing outside the top 10.

We still have 3 of the top 5 universally recognized P4P fighters in the sport, Mayweather, Ward, and Bradley. In addition to all the young, burgeoning talent.

Is the fact that chasing-a-ball-around-while-a-guy-blows-a-whistle sports are more popular than boxing in America really an excuse for Americans being run out of boxing, or just indicative that American men have become extremely girly?

I ignore both plots and just attribute it to the fact that American boxers were never superior to others to begin with, and boxing had its heyday in the US when it was hometown boys fighting hometown boys and the rare journeyman from Sweden was the only measuring stick.

Its been happening in the other sports like tennis Golf, American pool, etc. But nothing is as scary as the decline of American boxing. With no Heavy weight champions since 1996, and no Medals(not one) in the 2012 Olympics, If any American cannot see the long term decline of Boxing in their country then they are kidding themselves.



I have always said Broner was a fraud, and he is on the list of Ameericans not only losing but being ran out of boxing. So ill compile a list in the recent years. Your best fighters are Floyd, Ward, Hopkins, and Bradley with Garcia a close 4th. Floyds is 37 soon and has 4 fights left which we all know he wont be able to honour and WILL LOSE. Hopkins is sandwiched between Adonis Stevenson and Sergey Kovalev at age 48. Lets be honest, hes either retiring or hes out of there. And Timothy Bradley hasn't won his last 3 fights. He got beat down by many pac, and Horrible beat down by RUslan and a draw against Marquez. Its only a matter of time before he gets schooled by khan or Garcia(Also an American). Mattyse could also school him imo.
