Right. But Berto didn't have the option of doing down two divisions to his natural weight class where he would be favored against pretty much everyone there.

All we learned last night is that AB isn't an elite fighter. But, who in the hell thought he was elite to begin with?
Well obviously Ring magazine thought he was elite because they have him at #8 P4P in the world, 2 slots above Guillermo Rigondeaux.

He won't be a PPV star at 147 hell up and comers like Frankie Gomez and Jose Benevides would beat him down too

I doubt he makes 135 again. Things might not be any easier at 140, since both Paulie and Maidana are blown up midrange JWWs

That's kinda my point. Maybe its time to stop worrying about being a star and concentrate on being a fighter. And let him build into a star if his talent and marketable allows it. Instead of trying to short cut, match make, and manufacture him into a star. People forget, not too long ago Floyd was begging for fights and almost ****ed his career off doing some simlar **** to Broner's welterweight farce. When Floyd was at 30 and trying to get anybody with a name to fight him. He damn near signed to fight Winky Wright at 54. And had he done that, Wink would have beaten his ass worse than Chino did AB. Moral of the story. There's no short cuts to stardom.

Why can't he make 35? This time last year he as making his lightweight debut. He was clearly smaller than Maidana.

I was hoping ab could pull it off so garcia could take his 0 and it would have been a great fight of 2 young undefeated fighters ab will probably move back down maybe go to 140 instead of 135 because he can be a 4 divisional champ and with danny lucas and khan moving up to welter most likely ab can be top dog again in a division with no 1

So. Do you need Ring magazine to tell you who's an elite fighter? I don't. AB hasn't done anything in his career to even warrent mention of a P4P fighter. I think that's the one thing his fans and haters agree on.
