Comments Thread For: Flores: Broner Will Be Surprised By Maidana's Power

Strength and Conditioning trainer Cicilio Flores has been working with Marcos Maidana for his past four training camps and believes now that the Argentine is as focused as ever as he prepares to face Adrien Broner this Saturday in San Antonio, Texas.

Flores, who has previously worked with WBC middleweight king, Sergio Martínez, is essentially sharing duties with Alex Ariza, who is also helping to prepare Maidana, something which he concedes is difficult given that the usual scenario is for a trainer to work one-on-one with a fighter.

Paulie is also faster than Maidana.

Maidana best be prepared to bring it heavy on AB.

Hopefully there isn't confusion in the corner. Looks to be a decent matchup where both will be making each other earn their money.

Must see fight right here.. I expect Broner to beat Maidana worse than Devin did because I see Broner going for the K.O and not just trying to win. Also people don't give Paulie enough credit as he is an elite "boxer", like Bradley, great boxing skills, iron chin, but light hitting so Broner not looking good against Paulie (remember Cotto thrashed him but couldn't stop him) doesn't mean too much.

But on the flip side not knowing who will win makes this must see for me because I don't expect Maidana to suprise Broner with power, but with underrated or improved boxing abilities.

That's ******. AB isn't gunna be "surprised" by $h!t. You don't think Broner much like everyone else in the boxing world knows that El Chino has dynamite in his hands? Broner knows that and is preparing for that and will be avoiding that power all night. No surprises there Flores but I don't down them for trying to psyche themselves out.

As for Maidana coming into camp on weight and being super relaxed etc, that's not necessarily a good thing. There is such a thing as peaking too early. You should be climaxing to your max point as fight time nears, not be at it weeks to months before. Maidana and his team may be taking this too lightly with how they keep referring back to the Paulie fight. Paulie feather fisted or not is a special type of fighter and styles make fights and unfortunately for Maidana, his style makes this fight a beautiful showcase for Broner's skills.

            Strap up!!!

It doesn't matter what Maidana brings to the table. He will be no match for Broner.

ding ding ding exactly my point. Broner will not be "surprised" by his power of all things. If Marcos surprises AB or any of us it will be by boxing better than any of us think he's capeable of doing. Let's be honest, nobody is giving Maidana much more than a punchers chance, albeit a very good one.

If AB thinks he is fighting the same fighter that fought Khan he is gonna be in for a big surprise. Maidana has changed under Garcia, is better, has a Jab and sets up shots.

IF Maidana lands and I believe he will its up to AB to deal with it.

Can't wait for this fight. I give Broner credit for beating Ponce, DeMarco, and Paulie. Even Eloy Perez was viewed as a decent 130 fight at the time it happened. But this shoule be his toughest fight.

Broner didn't adapt well against Paulie, I don't know if he can adapt like a Floyd or Ward if Plan A doesn't work. Plus Broner's footwork doesn't seem too great. Still, if Broner can get respect against Maidana and/or stun him, he'll get off a lot.
