Floyd is obviously a defensive type of person, probably due to the persona he has taken in boxing. Since he is not humble about his accomplishments people tend to for whatever reason create a personal agenda against Floyd. Having so many people against you can make any one self conscious and I believe plays a huge role in how Floyd presents himself in interviews etc.

I think that's why Floyd whines a lot, I truly believe that what once started as the villain role for FMJ, is truly what he has grown into. The hate he received for playing this role probably cemented it as he saw what he probably perceived as people's "true opinions" about him.

I'm no psychologist but this is what I could see it as.

    Fair question.
Im not sure if im being condescending or plain insulting. Usually i hate it when people do that, but with Floyd i purposely can be offensive because i find his character offensive.
I can understand that some brilliant athletes have a bloodymindedness that is part of what makes them successful, but with Floyd it is a mix of things that grate me. Not just arrogance and attitude, a self-righteous ugly ignorance that if horrible. His contradictions, boasts, burning money in public, playing the race card etc. Really cant think of another famous person i find so intolerable.

But i also find him fascinating and a genius boxer. His dedication and focus is incredible. Im glad i am part of this era to see a great boxer fight live. But boy....what a total ****! lol

Damn buddy is getting roasted.. But yeah a true boxing/Mayweather fan will want to see him fight the best available. Floyd is great at marketing so someone like Lara he can sell since th product is pretty much legit.

Khan is a scandalous deal.. We all know he is horrible and it will be said by all boxing media outlets once Floyd sign him to fight him. You know how everyone is being all nice about it right now is how bad the backlash is going to be. The backlash will be justify though, the criticism and hatred will be justified, because Floyd decided to bite the bait.

He forced a bull**** catchweight against Alvarez that gave people an excuse not to give him credit.

I can't wait to see the ways you justify Khan. Should be fun.

why do floyd fans have to justify it? Most of us prefer he fight someone else. If he fights khan, many of us will support it same way we do all of his fights because we are fans.

Thats the same thing you and other manny fans did with the rios fight, the diaz fight. JMM 4, etc.

Fight who the fans want to pay to watch, when the fight is at its peak instead of fighting guys after they've aged, or lost, or have never been in a big fight

So when Floyd was asking for fights with Oscar and Shane (at their peak) and they said no, why didnt they get any blame? HUH? And the last time he fought someone coming off a lost was Zab Judah, but you know as well as everyone, that was a highly anticipated fight that everyone was clamoring for. To that point, people were saying he would AVOID Baldomir cause he was too big and strong for Floyd, yet he comes back to fight him after Zab and then people call him fighting the LINEAL CHAMPION a disgrace.

Some people on this board, I swear.

Hey, without the fans shelling out cash to see Floyd fight over the years, where would he be? We want to see him in competitive fights. The truth is, we wanted to see him fight Pacquiao years ago. Never mind why it hasn't happened yet, but since we couldn't get it, Canelo was this hot badass that is supposed to be the next great Mexican fighter. Many knew that he wasn't ready for Floyd, but he was really about the best fight for him. Mad props to Mayweather's skill set and his ability to dismantle opponents.

Despite his 2 recent losses, Pacquiao is one of the best talents in boxing, and remains the most-wanted opponent for Floyd in fan's minds. If Mayweather wants his legacy to be complete, he MUST fight Pacquiao! If he fought every other fighter out there and beat them, yet never fought Pacquiao, there would STILL always be that question of what if? One would think that even Floyd would have that question himself. This could easily be at least a two-fight, multi-million dollar series that rivals or even eclipses the Ali-Frazier trilogy. That's why, Floyd.

I get you, sort of. A Mayweather-Kahn fight could be slightly interesting. Kahn has good speed & pop, so he might challenge Mayweather a bit, as long as he doesn't get careless. While Mayweather isn't necessarily a KO artist, he has pop too. Of course, he has crazy ring generalship. I'm curious to see if Floyd can KO the glass-jawed Kahn. We all know that Kahn beating Mayweather is a long-shot. Which brings us back to the enduring question; Why should we shell out dollars to see what will likely amount to a one-sided fight?

how about WHY do we really care who he decides to fight? its not like he comes to fight, he come to outpoint you and thus makes a boring fight. and to top it all of you have to be in your lowest point in carreer for him to be interested in you. In all my years as a fan ive never seen a technical defensive fighter get paid or praised.

As a boxing fan, this isn't a great matchup on paper, especially given each fighters last fight. As such there is no way to justify it. We all know if it happens that its either floyd picking the biggest money fight out of a bunch of huge underdogs or its GBP and/or showtime mandating it aspart of his deal.

As for spending money on it-its your choice. As much as I hate the fight, I will likely pay for it because I am a floyd fan. Same way I would watch Lakers v Bobcats if Thunder v Heat was on at the same time, or watch th cowboy v Jaguars if Broncos v Seahawks was on. If you don't I'm absolutely fine with that.

If you're not happy with it don't buy it. Same as I did with manny v rios.
