I hear you, but it's for the benefit of others reading who are free to jump in with their views on whether DG has improved. I just don't see a lot of improvement, just better style match-ups for him. He's a good boxer Danny, underrated, but imo he struggles with Malignaggi movement if the fight gets made.Comment

I don't know if Malignaggi has enough left to outpoint Danny, but he can't be counted out. All that movement would certainly trouble Garcia; and he's not likely to finish Paulie with a bomb, like he did Khan. This might not be a great fight, but it is decent...and the outcome isn't certain.Comment

He's stronger, punching much harder, timing vastly improved, is much crisper with his punches.
Morales 1 and 2 are a prime example of how rapidly he's improving his game.Comment

I've underestimated Garcia several times, as I know many others have. He's a solid fighter; but there's nothing about him that seems very impressive, except for a big left hook. So he keeps getting underrated, but he keeps beating guys that his style/abilities can handle. His biggest win to date is Matthysse, but Lucas is a straight forward fighter. Paulie would look like a whirlwind compared to him.

I suppose Pauli will come under that catergory aswell.Comment

The difference between them you mean? I think that might have had as much to do with Morales tbh. We'll see though, you might be right, I hope the fight gets made. If it's Paulie's last, it's a good way to sign out at the Barclays.Comment

Well, Danny wasn't handling Khan very well...until he landed a huge left hook. It's conceivable that if Amir had avoided a crushing shot that fight would've been his on the cards. By that logic, I'm thinking that Paulie has a shot at outpointing Garcia. I see his speed, movement, ring IQ, stamina and chin as being potentially enough to squeeze out a win. Not that I would bet on it, mind you (lol), but I wouldn't count Malignaggi out either.Comment

That was what? 2 Rounds?
That's nothing, 2 out of 12 rounds. How do we know the rest of the fight would continue that way? How many times has a fight changed after the 4th round when certain fighters make the adjustments, etc? Since, after all Danny was clearly timing him and have success which is what lead to the KD.
People act like he just landed a hail mary shot out of no where but that's simply not the case. Danny lost the first 2 rounds but while he was losing the rounds he was slowly but surely getting Khan's timing down and setting traps to land those big punches. And he landed plenty of solid shots in both rounds, especially the 2nd, before landing the shot that dropped him.
I don't think that's sound logic at all, Pauli and Khan aren't alike. The only thing the Khan fight shows me is Danny has the timing to beat speed.Comment

Garcia has shown that he can come in and stick to a game-plan. Once Paulie starts to slow down, Garcia will catch up and put it on him. Though there's a possibility that the fight could look similar to Garcia/Theophane, I'm firmly behind Garcia to win this. Moving up to 147 would probably do him some good too.Last edited by kiaba360; 12-10-2013, 08:21 AM.Comment

I see that often, I don't understand that line of thinking.

Khan and Malignaggi aren't exactly alike -- not many fighters are carbon copies of each other -- but they share some similarities that might give a clue as to how Paulie might fare. Malignaggi lacks some things that Khan has, but he offers some things that Amir doesn't. I think the plusses might outweigh the minuses.Comment
