Khan wasn't too difficult to counter in that fight, he kept throwing the exact some combination, double-jab/uppercut, so most counter-punchers would have figured him out quickly. He threw that same combination repeatedly in the sparring footage too. It was a terrible combination. Khan was just underprepared for that fight because Roach was training Pacquiao in the Philippines so he trained himself for a lot of that camp, not to mention he was weight-drained. It was just a lucky night for Garcia, it's why him and his dad refused to rematch Khan because they probably knew they got lucky.

No one walks through Malignaggi though, because he can move.

Khan stood in front of him, Malignaggi won't.

Ask this same question friday and I doubt anyone gives Pauli a chance in hell.
Arguably beat Broner too, he did enough for a draw on my card, it could've gone either way imo. If Paulie hadn't gone so hard at the start of that fight, he would not have gassed in the second half.

Also, Malignaggi is a much better boxer than Theophane who Garcia struggled against. It's not an easy fight for Paulie, Garcia is strong but it's one he can win if he sticks to the gameplan.

He fought Theophane years ago he is clearly not the same fighter that fought Theophane.

Pauli is doing nothing with Garcia.

Looks pretty much the same to me (see below, same old DG). Not clearly anything, just more hyped now after breaking Khan's fragile chin while getting dominated and Matthysse's eye swelling up while clearly losing.

lol.. that's true it would be a hell of a build up with Paulie vs Angel.. the fight should get made just for that, it'll sell well off the back of the press conf. Plus it's a natural match up to make, even if you're Garcia's handlers concerned about the move up to 147, Malignaggi hasn't got significant punching power so he's the ideal fighter, in that respect, to test the waters at 147. His style however is going to cause Garcia a lot of problems I could see that fight going either way.

it depends if Garcia can close the distance effectively enough on Paulie with his own footwork and get into range to land shots. If he does that consistently, like Khan was able to, he should win the fight. If he's unable to do that then Malignaggi could win the decision. Zab thinks after fighting both of them that Garcia probably won't be able to do that and Malignaggi's boxing skills will win him the fight.

Khan has much better handspeed and even footwork than Garcia. If Khan had a chin that fight would have been a 12-0 shut-out. Paulie isn't as fast as Khan but he's faster than Garcia and has a much better chin than AK.

One thing about this bout, if there is (inevitably) a lot of needle in the build-up, I hope Paulie paces himself during the fight. He doesn't need to fade in the second half like he did against Broner by getting to hyped, active and angry in the first half.

I'm sure both of them will be down for the payday. Danny doesn't have to worry about facing a powerful puncher like he did against Matthysse so you can bet he'd be down taking this fight coming into the 147 lb division against a relatively safe opponent in terms of power and a miniscule chance of actually getting hurt in the fight. I still choose Garcia by decision.

True he did slow down late in the Broner fight for the reasons you mentioned, he used up a lot of energy unnecessarily early. But I think that was also partly due to the bad blood between Paulie and Broner, and Broner was standing in front of him in the ring.

I think in the Garcia fight, the bad blood will be mainly between Paulie and Angel because Danny won't get too involved. So Paulie probably won't have quite the same anger towards Danny in the ring as he did towards Broner.
