  • Comments Thread For: Rigondeaux Would Face Lomachenko at Catch-Weight

WBA/WBO super bantamweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (13-0, 8KOs) walks around only a few pounds heavier than the 122 pound super bantamweight limit. The Cuban has said in the past that he wasn't interested in moving up to featherweight because he makes weight so easy.

Vic Salazar of Tha Boxing Voice and I recently caught up with the two-time Olympic Gold medallist to get his thoughts on the possibility of him facing fellow gold medal winner Vasly Lomachenko (1-0, 1KO), who campaigns in the featherweight division. [Click Here To Read More]

Rigo is cherrypicking a novice and trying to weight drain him.

It's obvious that Rigo has no intentions of fighting at 126 and I don't blame him. Unless he gets paid like his last fight then I don't see him going up.

Rigo doesn't even re-hydrate to the featherweight limit. He is a bantamweight and fought there his whole amateur career.

Fighting at 126 for him is like Floyd fighting at 154 to put things in perspective. He should only fight at featherweight if the money is right.

In that post-Agbeko video interview posted here on Boxingscene, Rigo sounded like he was willing to do 126 for the right "numbers." For a fight with Lomo, especially if it's at 126, Guille's gonna wanna get paid.

100% agree and this would be a good fight to up his publicity. Lomachencko might very well have more of a buzz around his name to casual fans.

And if the opponent is right. There are guys that drain down much more than others. Even the guys Rigo's fighting at 122 re-hydrate much higher than he does.
