What Andre Ward needs to do

Pursue Adonis Stevenson ASAP. Go up to 175 and fight him this Spring, win the lineal title there. Let Pascal/Bute play out, and let Kovalev possibly fight another contender. Maybe a Chad Dawson, Chillemba, or something.

Then after handling Adonis, fight those two winners of those fights in his next two fights. By this time, it'd be the second half of 2015 most likely, Ward would be 31, and fighters at 168 like Groves could be looking to move up, and other names will have most likely entered into the contender list.

But knowing Ward lately.....he'll fight someone meh at 168 next, a decent contender like Edwin but nothing special.

Big Ward fan here, but I see he's contracted the cherrypicking syndrome from Floyd, Pacman and Martinez. I guess when fighters reach the top, they change.

I see absolutely no reason for a Ward-Froch, GGG or Chavez fight. Some fighters are mega money stars, others are not. Ward would pull in close to the same numbers even if he did fight Adonis or Kovalev.

Lol at comparing fighting Edwin Rodriguez and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr to Mayweather fighting Canelo, Mosley, Cotto, Ortiz, Guerrero, etc.

At least Floyd was fighting guys that were either big fights that people wanted to see, or guys coming off big or solid wins.

Ward fighting Chavez possibly coming off Brian Vera will be TERRIBLE.

There was a time in 2011 where I was thinking Ward is going to be a guy to conquer SMW, LHW, and CW with ease.

Now I'm wondering if he's ever going to leave 168.

Did Chavez and Ward ever fight?? Must have missed that. But yes, I sure did compare Ward attempting to cherrypick to Floyd. Cause I knew you'd defend Floyd while trying to $h!t on Ward. As you can see, me being objective recognized them as similar. While a biased man wouldn't.

I like both guys a ton. But Ward fighting Edwin Rodriguez, a decent fighter in the Top 10 nothing more or less, would be like Floyd fighting Kell Brook next. Now if Floyd fights Khan next, who hasn't done anything legit since Peterson 2 years ago, I'll be the first in line to say this is hands down his worst fight since Sharmba Mitchell.

It's no secret Ward wants a Chavez Jr payday on PPV, and that's probably why he's not moving up yet.

                LOL at Cruiser weight.

Moving up from 168 to 200 lbs is a huge difference.

Ward uses his strength to push people around, he will not do that at 175 and definitely 200.

I bet he would win S6 after Kessler 1, because he was special, but he is injury prone and is looking for money fights.

stevenson's boxing ability and power make him a guy you don't want to follow.
he boxes better moving backwards because of his power. don't follow a puncher.

i think ward boxes him pretty easily. he'll be more effective with the jab on the outside, and make stevenson come forward. he's just got to watch out for the bombs, and he wins. when stevenson wants to trade, ward will hold

kovalev is a different animal. he's kind of a wildcard. i don't fully know what he's got. he's only fought 63 rounds as a pro. he's never been more than 8 rounds. he's one of the best punchers in boxing right now. he's got great offense. if he can keep that up for 12 rounds he's a tough go.

as of right now, being that kovalev is unproven, i'd shade ward to do better down the stretch. he's been 12 rounds many times now.

i haven't seen the fight, but kovalev's longest fight was an 8 round SD win over darnell boone.

Ward ain't going to light heavyweight with those monsters. He is busy nuthugging Chavez jr and trying to get that fight.
