. That's tough. I take issue with that. That makes him worthy of my list. That was no decision loss, that was an early round destruction at the hands of a c+ fighter
Your really contradicting yourself anyone can get ko'd specially by a huge puncher I don't care how many losses he has it's losing a decisive decision against an average fighter that makes people say you were exposed. He got caught win one punch like many great fighters have before him that doesn't necessarily erase all he has achieved before that point.

As a published well educated man who's been ringside numerous times as you claim to be I would imagine you would rate a decisive ud loss higher than a ko loss in one round where not much else happened.

The dude fights hard and has worked to develop boxing skills so he can carry on past his twilight physical years, and it is working....thats not hype.

Amir Khan? the interest in Kahn has nothing to do with Hype....Everyone's grandmother knows "that sweet little Pakistani Lad is so nice, but can't fight a lick." HOWEVER (and however looms large here....) Kahn has the style and speed to give Mayweather fits. Knowledgable boxing people tend to give Kahn that prop....while acknowledging the obvious...that anyone with a real punch will flatten Kahn. Its like Judah...3 rounds of hell then easy street, no hype needed.

Ok to start my list....I seldom will do a list you inspired me BTW (wow big deal right?)

      1) You say Fury? I say Wilder. Both are hyped one as an American hope the other as a British hope....Thing is Fury has skills and duck or goose, he takes Wilder. Wilder is a one punch wonder and agianst a fat guy that can fight he will show his hype status...Ruiz would destroy him.

      2) Bronner. No real footspeed to speak of....was able to occasionally walk Paulie down but Paulie could have easily had his hand raised...what does Bronner do against guys who can move? Adrian has had his minute of fame....he will be gone soon.

      3) Martinez. Never could figure out why this guy was so special. Good mobility and some decent wins....nothing spectacular really. Pavlik almost beat him as an orthodox boxer with decent skills.

      4) Vlad Klitschko. Weak division, weak comp. There are a bunch of young guys waiting who the fans would like to see fighting for the championship...When Lewis was the champ he fought guys like Grant and Briggs because they were percieved as a threat...After the mandatory lets see some real action, beat Wilder for example...it will never happen because both these guys are risk averse.

      5) Danny Garcia. Solid all the way around, may turn out to be exceptional, but hardly the special guy to carry around the Philly mantle! Pretty average skills, so why does this guy get such props?
I enjoyed this list. I take minimal issue with the majority of your positions.
I like the wlad selection. That's just fancy. I hate him as heavyweight champion. He has dragged us all into the dark ages with his jab and grab jibber jabber. Thank you for the kind words. That's a good list. I have a question for you. While I concede I am not immersed in the domestic brittish fight scene, I gather that Tyson is considered a big time heavyweight. Every time I read that I get images of USS Stevie pulling that rug out from under him.

I can't get past that image brother. Wilder is the biggest power puncher in boxing. Not a great talent, but he has a right hand that begets chaos. Tyson is easy to find. Tyson does not have true one punch power. He wears you down with his size. He won't have enough time for his primary tactics to play out. Fun read you posted

Showboats and knockout artists who have yet to face a true challenge. GGG has the brightest future of the bunch though.
I LOVE your last selection. I could not have devised a better selection myself. That's on point. He sucks

        • If Shinming fights his next 100 bouts in China, he will be 100-0. I can even see an opponent getting DQ'd for knocking him out. No way he loses.

First time he shows up in the USA and fights someone with a decent record and a decent punch he gets KTFO.

In fact, his middle name is "Hype" in Han Chinese.

Deontay Wider Hardly gets any hype at all, according to a lot of people, once he`s step up in opposition,he`s going to sleep.

Nonito has been exposed as a limited boxer who is average at setting up his punches. He has degenerated into a head hunter with no tactics. He has lost 95% of the rounds he has participated in this year. He bailed himself out with a Hail Mary knock out of Vic, but he was down on the cards, he landed less punches, and he looked worse for wear, he is the reigning fighter of the year, biggest hype job in the world. Will lose the next time he steps up in class. He is greater on twitter then he is in the boxing ring

                  2. GGG

Not since Gerry Cooney have we seen so much praise heaped upon a fighter for starching Cale repairmen. He has not beaten anybody, yet boxing fans want to annoit him the prodigal son. Kryptons last hope. That's as ridiculous as a conference USA team going undefeated and believing they belong in the national championship before an Alabama. His defense is suspect, and he is flat footed. Robotic. He will be white washed by a boxer who moves. Fanboys and HBO have created a false narrative and his name is GGG.

                  3. Miguel Cotto

Make no mistake. Cotto is shot. Shock worn to the max. He defeats a d fighter, and all of a sudden he is the hottest name in boxing. Delvin rod is good enough for 8 figures??? Cotto has no chin, his power has faded, he is not who he thinks he is. Disgusting that hype has resurrected his career. He can fool the fans, he cannot fool me. He is done, one last payday.

                  4. Amir Khan

No signature wins, no titles, knocked around the ring by a lightweight in his last outing, yet, he is in the running to get FMJ????? nuff said. Disgraceful state of affairs

                  5. Tyson Fury

The British media is notorious for overhyping their fighters and Tyson is a case study. He is fat, slow, chinny, and soft. He is funny as hell, but the fact that he is drawing 7 figure paychecks, dictating terms to legit heavyweights, all this after being put on his butt by an average cruiser. In ducking wilder, Tyson solidified himself as a hype job. He will NEVER be heavyweight champion, but has the united kingdom believing its possible. What a joke.

                  Honorable mention

                  1. Danny Garcia
                  2. Ruslan P
                  3. Manny P
                  4. Àbner Mares

*I don`t believe Cotto is anywhere nera shot;i think Cotto was just somewhat overrated.Cotto tended to struggle bad when he fights a real live fighter ever since he was young.People only remember or only seen fights of him, where he destroyed mediocre opposition easy;but they don`t remember or hav`nt seen the fights where he struggled badly against live opponents. So when Cotto struggled with-Clottey whose a good fighter-they assumed Cotto was shot. But in reality Cotto has rarely ever looked look good against quality opposition even when he was young.
