    Remember when Mayweather fought Hatton?

Floyd turned his back, leaned over the ropes face down, Ricky threw a punch that missed toward the top of his head. Joe Cortez then deducted a point from Hatton for rabbit punching.

Floyd threw an flush elbow, connected, then turned his back and hung over the ropes to avoid Hatton's retaliation. Cortez ignored the elbow and took a point Hatton off for hitting a rope.

Yep, the lad did himself no favours by turning his back and not covering up at all.

So many people don't know what "protect yourself at all times" means.

lol it's not about comparing for f sake...

Cleverly - Kovalev, Chisora - Scott, Froch - Groves and now Chisora - Pala. Can you see the pattern?

You're right, to be honest I'm surprised why ref didn't add Chisora 3 points for reminding Pala that it's illegal by throwing legal punches on the back of Pala's head.

But Chisora hit him with a clear blatant blow to the back of the head. Back turned or not, he shouldn't have punched at the back of his head. He adjust the next one around to the jaw, but the ref didn't even warn Chisora for it.

Del Boy was going to get him sooner or later anyway, I just don't like when people say Ward must fight Froch in the UK, it's only fair. If he lost on a BS stoppage like one of these 2, that would be a massive travesty to the sport.

No, I honestly can't see a pattern. Are you saying Kovalev-Cleverly was an early stoppage? or a late stoppage?

Because if you really want to go down that route, we can easily pull up fights where British fighters have been given the wrong end of the stick.

it's not about that. Pala turned his back before Chisora threw a rabbit punch. A guy turns his back like that in the ring, he's asking for trouble.

I thought Pala essentially quit there.

The ref has to stop the fight really if a guy is not intelligently defending himself - chilling out on the ring post with your arms at 6 o'clock is not defending yourself.

And that's not cool. Especially because it was such a blatant rabbit punch. But he threw the fight before then. Turned his back in the middle of an exchange is asking to be counted out. And he didn't complain which pretty much tells you everything. And it was surprising as he put up a good fight in the first couple of rounds.

I can see the point, but an international referee would have been assigned for that fight anyway, neutral judging etc, so I can't see it as an issue. Ward's team are very smart people and would have sorted everything out before the fight happened.
