The fight sells 700k on PPV which equals around 42 Million, after 50 ^ of that goes to the PPV providers there is enough to pay both fighters purses. Top Rank is gonna make their money from the gate. 23k sold tickets at an average of lets say 120 bucks equals
2.7 Million so its a win win situation for everybody
Doubt this fight does 700K. I'll give it 5 at most.

        $60 X 500,000 = $30,000,000 in PPV
        $150 X 23,000 = $3,450,000 in gate

Then you have sponsorships, closed circuits, delayed broadcast, international sales. I'll be generous and call this a $50 million event.

$15 million guarantee to Cotto is 30% of that. Then you have to pay Dibella, Sergio, undercard fighters, sanctioning fees, pre fight promotion, etc. Then on top of that you have to also pay Cotto a portion of the PPV upside?

If this offer is true my guess (which has no credibility whatsoever) is that they are trying to save face (and probably jobs at HBO) after overpaying for Cotto's tuneup against Rodriguez.

Sergio is still more dangerous than Pac was when he destroyed Cotto.

They must have forgotten the decimal point. 1.5M to fight Martinez sounds about right.

15 mil guarantee as well as a PPV upside that can potentially double that amount?

                  Sureeeeee

                    right.
That was a non PPV fight. You cant compair a non PPV purse to an actual PPV purse.

what is cotto's highest purse? has it ever been close to 15 mil? i seriously don't remember. i just find it hard to believe he would be earning his biggest payday against sergio, instead of pac and floyd.
