Comments Thread For: Cotto's Adviser: Miguel Not Rushing Decision For Return

Gaby Peñagarícano, the legal adviser to former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (38-4, 31KOs), says the Puerto Rican star is taking his time to decide what he plans to do next in 2014. Cotto has two deals on the table. On one end is a monster, $10 million dollar deal to face Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs) on March 8th in a headline bout of a Showtime Pay-Per-View. On the other end is a deal that is less lucrative, but gives Cotto the chance to make history in taking on WBC middleweight champion Sergio Martinez (51-2-2, 28KOs) in the main event of an HBO Pay-Per-View.

Cotto beats some guy named Delvin and thinks he's on top of the world...smh

With him being towards the end of his career I think he'll take the money route. Nothing wrong with that.

Good, he deserves to take time and weigh his options. This is the man who has NEVER EVER turned down a fight and FOUGHT EVERYBODY they put in front of him without ANY excuses. If there's a fighter in the game right now that we can all respect, it's Cotto. The guy is the definition of a fighter. We owe it to him to at least get himself the best fight possible at this stage in his career, specially when either of the choices is a fan favorite/tough fight.

If he chooses Sergio, what will happen with the legal matter concerning Rubio? Will Sergio be stripped of his title, denying Cotto the chance to get that 4th title?

Nothing wrong with that.[/QUOTE] I think that's what he would prefer to do but Hbo paid cotto very we'll for that Rodriguez fight and gave him another shot after he went to showtime for the Trout fight. I think cotto knows that hbo expected him to stay with them. I think he's trying to find away to make every1 happy , which is impossible . We'll see

A Freddie roach trained cotto will beat canelo and th that's the fight he should take. Martinez at 160 might be too much to take on.
