Comments Thread For: The Greening of George Groves

“I stopped it because I thought he was hurt. I felt that way after I stopped it as well, when I was directing him back to the corner. [W]e try to stop the fight before it is one punch too late. The shot had hurt him and he was taking some clean punches in the previous round so you have to make a decision based on what is best for the fighter.” — Howard Foster, October 2009.

Groves wasn't even really hurt, let alone knocked down. That fight was rigged as hell.

Groves should have had an 8 count & not put in a head lock & stopped by Foster. "BAD REFFING END OF"!

Then why did Foster let Hatton off the hook against Lazcano on more than one occasion?! Any time Hatton was hurt, he'd find an excuse to halt the action so Ricky can clear his head. Foster has always been associated with questionable decisions.

I watched the 9th rd again. My guess is Groves probably would have been KOd or at least KDd in that round. Did he still deserve a chance to keep fighting? Of course. I think Foster saw what I saw, but "probably" isn´t enough to stop a fight, not in the pro ranks.

Foster likes to err on the side of caution.....except when he doesn't.

He is inconsistent at best, incompetent (or corrupt?) at worst.
