This is the side of boxing I literally hate. And its also why I get irratated to no end when these dumbass couch warrior fans pump their chests, criticizing safety first fighters. And kissing the asses of these "warriors" who are "willing to take risk" to "give the fans exciting fights." Praying that this kid pulls through. But it doesn't look good. And even if he does, he's gonna be wrecked financially for the rest of his life.

1. It's not the fans who tell a boxer how to fight, they are entitled to support the styles they like the most.

2. Boxing has been around for well over a thousand years and only organized for the past 120 plus years...technicians have only existed in varying levels of quantity the last 50 or so yeas so being a fan of brawlers does not make you a casual couch warrior it makes you 50% of the demographic that makes up boxing which at one point would've made them 100% of the demographic.

3. A professional boxer makes a choice to brawl, they made it. My only issue with this is that the risk vs reward is not even. If a brawler was making millions each time they fought I would have no issue at all with it. Brawling for a few hundred K makes no sense to me, for millions? No issue at all.

4. In terms of financial ruins do to health...they have the means and wealth to get all the insurance they need...at the end of the day it doesn't matter if you slip and break your neck or get your eye crushed in during a fight..you and only you are responsible for looking out for #1 and your family.

5. I love Mago's heart but his corner people were not up to snuff...when your fighter does not respond to you it's time to end the fight..which happened in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th round and jackson did absolutely jack shhh.

6. The fans are only going to consume what is available to them...you want someone to blame for this..blame boxing, the people making millions off it, and pimping out these fighters who don't know any better...not the fans.

My wife and I join you in the prayers for Mago, it's a sad situation but folks really need to direct their anger at the right people over this.

Boxing is a high risk sport that most insurance will not take the chance on , it just does not happen.

You do realize that you are acting like boxing only happens in the U.S. many boxers come from countries with free health care throughout europe and canada...also if it's such an issue for them to get insurance why haven't they banded together to demand the sanctioning bodies get them coverage? Oh wait that's right many of these guys think they are superman and don't cover their own a s s e s. Would you as a boxer be capable of getting health insurance? Yes, but it will cost a lot which frankly if you are boxing and can't afford the health insurance you may want to consider another career.

If you're a technician and don't have success at the absolute highest level of the sport, there's no way to make money fighting. And that falls dirctly on the fans. I don't have a problem with brawlers and I'm jumping and screaming when I watch a fight like Corrales-Castillo I. But I'm equally satisfied watching Rigondeaux put on a clinic.

And speaking of Rigo. I feel you're off in your assessment that fighters choose their styles. This guy may be the best fighter in the world and is begging for TV dates. Arum, as well as the HBO bigwigs have said Rigo needs to change his style and make himself more exciting. And that's because these ignorant, dumbass couch warriors don't appreciate technical masters.

As for you thinking all these fighters have the financial means to take out these expensive ass insurance policies on themselves. Obviosuly you didn't read the entire article. Dude Christina the most prominent Cuban media personality tried and he said, NO. Arum and HBO aren't the issue..look how far Ward has come with Goosen and HBO with his style..he said f' it and started doing the other 50% of the job of being a boxer which is being out there with the people. When Rigo was in NYC for the Donaire fight there is only one set of pictures of the man in the streets..and guess where? In the quietest neighborhood of the entire Island of Manhattan. I love Rigo and his skills but the dudes personality is what's f'ing his career up not what others arent doing for him because I can tell you this they pushed Rigo hardddddd as fk out here.

Boxers are responsible for their business fam..a boxer can apply to become an independent contractor and be given insurance it's a work around for many who don't have any insurance at all...some sanctioning bodies actually do offer low cost health insurance based on agreements with health providers. There are a lot of avenues to getting insurance, cheap insurance..but if you are a champion accepting 40k for a title defense it's likely that you aren't on top of your business in the first place. I hope he heals but I do think this will in the end do more good than harm because it's making a lot of people start and think..hell may even get the feds involved if negligence is found.

This is awful. Unfortunately, this is the cruel part of boxing, but this just seems different. That fight should have been stopped. I just feel that through the mistakes of those put in place to protect the fighter, this has happened.

Let's see throwing a pitch in front of 20,000 people, waving and going home. Or shaking hands, talking to, taking pics with people...which is considered mixing it up? As i've stated before the man is more comfortable within his tight group..he didn't bother to visit his second biggest pocket of fans in Jersey (little cuba)..he turned down the largest hispanic sports telecast in america for a guest spot on their sunday show...and the list goes on. I love Rigo and he's got a hell of a story to tell but he just won't tell it...that's the sum of it all.

Pretty much. I have complained about early stoppages in the past, but it was out of ignorance on my part and I don't think I'll ever complain about an early stoppage again.
