Is Canelo A-level simply due to hype and a large fan base? Is Chavez Jr A-level too? You know; the guy with the highest ratings this year from network fights.

Floyd's last 3 opponents certainly not A-level..Maybe not even B-level but they were all fighters people claimed Floyd would not get in the ring with for various reasons...No fighter Pac has fought in years aside from Bradley had anybody believing he would not face them for various reasons...

As far as Canelo and Chavez, IMO are two spoonfed, C++ level fighters who don't fight at their true weightclass..

Mayweather knows how to sell his opponents and his cards, whereas Roach always plays down their opposition to the point where you wonder "why should I spend 60 dollars to watch Pacquiao stop a journeyman in four rounds."

With Mayweather we had a decent undercard to both shows so even though Floyd was a heavy, heavy favorite people bought the PPV for the overall event. This undercard for this show is horrific. I can't even believe Verdejo, Shiming, Ruiz facing stiffs is part of the card with so many other fighters under Top Rank's stable who could have been on this show in competitive fights. The best fight next to the main event is Dib-Gradovich, which tells you everything you need to know.
I agree the undercard stinks but I actually didn't even read the article and mistook the the article title for something else. Never mind

Not for this price tag. Hell ****ing NO! I dont care how he handles himself against a C-level opponent who has never fought at this weight and coming off....oh you know. This does nothing for me at all.

Will it be exciting? maybe. Rios has heart but lacks in skill but in no way should this be PPV. Only reason im buying is because family in town early for holiday. And i buy all PPV but this one just blows.

Pac wins he beat a low ranked 140lber coming off loss and proves nothing and if he loses hes done. This is a lose lose situation for Pac IMO

I find it funny how quickly this discussion board turned to Floyd. I think it was the second post. Pacs fan base went on the defensive quick, to guard against what we already knew when the fight was announced. That being, Rios was a pick for an easy and impressive looking W. He might end up with a Darchinian on his hands though, and that would be hilarious.

And to those who compare this fight to the Canelo fight, GTFOHWTBS. No one asked for this fight. People on this very board begged for the Canelo fight and said Floyd would duck him, because Canelo would crush his bones ect...

Roach needs to close his mouth. More often than not we see that Roach is constantly bragging about how he manufactures champs, by requesting stipulations that kill them to meet and making matches against opponents designed to make his fighters look good.

Its not intriguing because Rios is not he one to test this. I don't expct the best, but damn at least get a contender. Rios is barely even top 10 in his weight class, so you bring him up? I would rather see him face a Jesse Vargas, for no other reason than Jessie is more technically sound than Brandon and isn't tailor made. A Cotto would be best, but the Roach situation kills that on top of Pac never touching 150+ again. There are non-GB fighters who he could've gone up with that would present a challenge, while still moving him back in to the ring slowly, but they declined to find one.

i more or less agree with what youre saying, but here's my thing....yes the may/cinnamon card looked a lot better on paper, but honestly, it wasnt as explosive as it could have been. so what happens if we get atleast 2 great fights before the main event(it possible)? Then you get an exciting, dont blink type of main event. Would you still hate on it?

Not the best way to sell a fight but that's not his job , it's the promoters. Atleast he's calling it like he sees it instead of hyping up a guy to b.s. the public. Like when you see a fighter hype up the other guy so he looks better when he beats him.

That card only had 2 fights on paper, and only 1 delivered (Matthysse- Garcia).

Canelo vs Mayweather was so lop-sided it became boring. Smith vs Molina was one of the worst fights I've ever seen. Going into the event I questioned why they had that fight over Trout vs Lara. The fight before with Cano and Theopane wasn't that great either.

No one cares about the undercards. Those are appetizers. The main event will still deliver.
