    Boxing is taking over China

On China daily Zou is the number 1 story while Pac is story number 3.
Chinadaily.com.cn is the largest English portal in China, providing news, business information, BBS, learning materials. The Website has channels as China, BizChina, World, Opinion, Sports/Olympics, Entertainment, Lifestyle, Culture, Citylife, Photo, Forum and Weather.

On SCMP Pac is the number 1 story, Zou is the number 2 story, and a write up on Thrilla in Manilla is the number 3 story.
Latest sports news and commentary on Hong Kong Sevens, horse racing, NBA, rugby, tennis and trail running. We also cover MMA updates including UFC fight reports and kung fu news.

If you scroll down to the HK section of the news you'll see that a story about a boxer named Rex Tso is the number 1 story there too.

This isn't the first time I've made a thread like this. Every time Zou or Xiong fight they take over the news in China too. Some people keep trying to say boxing will never take on in China, but pretty clearly we are seeing some major waves here. This was an old one about the headlines Xiong was getting. He fought in a 40k seat stadium in China and nobody reported on it. The reaction this time is clearly much larger again. My only regret is that it's not being broadcast on CCTV.

Only making it available through smart phones is a pretty ****** idea which will limit the audience though.

It's only available through smart phone?
Maybe it's because they can't charge it through the T.V?

I dunno, didn't even know that

China is the home of breaking every copy right laws. They priced it at 5 bucks so they can get that massive audience to watch. Anything higher would make the illeagal streaming numbers even higher.

yeah, I'd be surprised if anyone orders it of there, even if it is 5 dollars, it's on your fcking phone and the Chinese know how to stream their sht free.

but still it's a good thing boxing is getting some buzz over there.

Its great because Macau is a nice area to hold fights, I hope more big fights get held there. tired of all the fights being in Vegas.

Also yeah, the Chinese stream everything, those illegal sopcast streams are from China.

They are not going to order 5 dollar ppv's on a cell phone lol.

The venue is a casino in mainland China. They make money attracting tourists and gamblers. It's no different from hiring Celine Dion to attract customers to come in your night club.

The money part is likely to have been settled even before the fight happens. What they make from PPV sales around the globe is another story.

Its ****** to even try to charge a ppv in China. Mexico airs all of the ppv events for free on regular tv. Even in Japan all the big fights are on regular tv and aren't on premium channels. I would've thought they put it on a national tv station for everyone to see. Im not sure how it works in Mexico but I always assumed the networks made money on the adds between rounds. But I know nothing about the working of tv networks let alone in a country like China.
