Comments Thread For: Froch: I Knew Groves Was Jealous After My Bute Win

CARL FROCH can recall the exact moment he began to detest “jealous” George Groves.

Froch defends his IBF and WBA super-middleweight titles against Groves on Saturday and there will be plenty of tension in the air when they climb into the Manchester ring.

According to Froch, his animosity towards Groves stems from the Londoner’s ringside reaction within seconds of him landing the IBF belt in May last year.

Froch, 36, collected the crown with a fifth-round stoppage of Lucian Bute and Groves was one of the observers at a packed Nottingham Arena.

    Carl is a knoob

He acts like he should be treated like royalty. Groves believes he can beat him - so what. He should feel that way. Froch thinks Groves is a "horrible person" because he doesn't kiss his ass in a proper manner? Give me a break. Carl does seem to have some tension and insecurities about this fight and it bothers him that he can't seem to bother Groves no matter how tough he talks or downplays groves. New Champion!

Is it just me or is Groves acting like he knows something the rest of us don't?

He's just acting like someone who believes the **** he's saying.

I think he genuinely believes that he will land whenever he wants on Froch and Froch won't be able to do anything about it.

He's done this by convincing himself that Froch has struggled a few times in winning and taken a few L's at the top level therefore he will easily win the fight.

Which is of course a ****** way to look at things.

But that's what I have taken from his comments in the build up.

The issue Froch has is the way Groves downplays what he's done and is dismissive about what he's accomplished.

He then tries to justify it by saying "All I'm doing is telling the truth".

He's been disrespectful, It's clear as day.

He doesn't have to treat him like royalty but atleast show respect for a guy who's done a lot in recent times and don't dismiss what he's done.

True, Groves is being a bit coy but Froch has always been a **** to opponents. Always disrespectful. But he can't seem to take any chiding in return. Glad Groves is annoying him. He's got a real shot too. I don't see him folding like an accordion the way Carl puts it.

Froch has been abit of an idiot himself in the past I agree.

              Especially around 06-08.

That said, he's done a lot and he's earned his respect. He deserves that at least. I think Groves has acted like a moron in this build up.

I don't see the fight going well for Groves, I think he's in trouble.

I don't know, even before the OP my perception had been that froch had issues with groves before the fight was even signed, wether it be because of a sense of betrayal with the Kessler sparring or that groves has the audacity to believe he belongs in the same ring.

I'm not surprised groves is being disrespectful, I think froch got under his skin by suggesting him sparring with kessler was unpatriotic, which in my opinion was a bit of a **** move, and is responding in kind.

Besides which the most respected guys in any walk of life are the humble types who let their actions speak louder than words, you don't go around demanding respect, it's just not the way it works.

I'm not saying Carl hasn't walked the walk but if I had a £1 for every time he reminded us of his achievements and his resume, even before this fight, I'd have been able to afford ringside seats.

I've been informed by a source that Adam Booth is going to pop up. Not that that makes any difference to Froch, but it shows that the 'split' between Groves and Booth was utter BS; much like David Haye's supposed 'retirement'.

                    Its all smoke and mirrors.
