Will "boring styles" eventually kill boxing?

Well, I tuned in at ten last night. I was expecting to see the undercard fight/s first. Lo and behold it's the main card already. (HBO would rather have better ratings showing its regular programming.) And you could see it's not a packed audience. I figured it's one of those fights people don't bother watching.
It true, without casuals all that's left are streamers. Thus the death of boxing. It is what it is. Who's going to pay Money Mayweather's $40 million guarantee?Comment

Well that's some fairly ******ed friggin logic if I've ever seen any. What's been killing boxing for the last 2 decades have been the commercialization of the sport. Fighters avoiding this guy to fight that guy cause fighter A possesses too much danger but not enough reward. While fighter B can bring a fanbase and is an easy victory.
But yeah, I'd blame "boring" styles too if I was a bitter idiot with no real knowledge of anything boxing related. I mean why not "ignore" the high risk low reward defense that most boxing fans who support star fighters are prepared to use as the primary source of defense whenever a dangerous opponent arises.
What's killing boxing are the fans supporting of the business side of boxing instead of the best fighting the best. There's nothing boring about watching Rigo dismantle the number 3 pfp fighter in the world. That's not boring, that's jaw dropping excitement to me.
To watch a pure boxer absolutely son a star fighter, or a very highly rated fighter is 1 of boxing's most beautiful sights.Comment

I agree., they act like the bigots they condemn. It's a ploy used by the weak minded to end an argument and further their moronic point of view. F**k the 'race card' and all those who use it as a weapon.Comment

Your points are well put, and well taken. But i'm afraid that it is the Colosseum,, and we are still the pleebs , and as pleebs always do, we require a spectacle. So the brutality aspect of this sport will probably always be with us. Twas ever thus, so to speak. When these brawlers develop degenerative brain diseases from taking so many shots to the head and are no longer able to support themselves, will these blood thirsty war mongers be there to support them? Have you made a contribution to help pay Abdusalamov's medical bills?
I think we as boxing fans expect way too much from these fighters and it's time for us to lower our expectations. This is not the freaking Colosseum. These fighters have families they need to provide for.Comment
