i have a feeling cotto will go with the canelo fight because 1. it's a more winnable fight for him and 2. the money will be good for him and his family after he retires
of course beating sergio at 160 will do MUCH MORE for his legacy than beating a 23 yr old hype job, but i think at this point cotto is focused on his family and his future after he retires...
Only on NSB a 23 year old loses to the #1 p4p fighter and be called a hype job. Give the young fighter a chance to grow and learn. When you guy realize that professional sport is a business first venture, then u will realize what you call hype is skilful marketing/promoting. Canelo is a good fighter, maybe a little protected for my liking but this is the new direction of modern day prizefighting. You are making a hasty conclusion on a kid's career that is just starting.
there really is no reason for cotto to turn down this fight, even if he wants Martinez who's to say Martinez won't get hurt again in training? the guy is nearing 40,he can get hurt and just wasted time for cotto, not only that the money he'll get with Martinez wont be like with canelo
If it is Sergio for $5M or Canelo for $10M,the only question we should be asking is,who is Sergio going to line up instead.Cotto will follow the money, forget aspirations, look at his age.Sergio isn't going anywhere just yet and Canelo is a fight Cotto can realistically win.dont ask me who I pick,I am a Canelo fan,but he proved against Trout and Money he is easily tagged and can be outworked by a seasoned tactician.no way Cotto stops the guy, this fight is actually way too dangerous for Canelo,he's coming off of a loss,is this source credible I ask, where is the link ?
Canelo is desperate lol he just wants another big payday before he goes back to Mexico to fight 100 bums reminds me of Vargas suppose to be this next big superstar and fails
Canelo will beat Cotto. Its all about styles and Cotto is the perfect style for Canelo to shine. You will see moron!!!
Oh I know a lot of guys will try to fight Cotto regardless, but I'm talking about what Cotto would do if he gets KO'd by either guy. I think he'll either retire or he'll fight a gimme in PR.
He might, but I think Cotto will know the Sergio shot is very limited and he can't wait forever for him.
