    Amir Khan is English-Pakistani.

Pakistan is not India: Pakistan has the 2nd largest Shi'a population in the world and their national language is Urdu. India is a rich, multi-ethnic democracy with the majority being Hindu. And there's more Christians there than there are Sikhs. And their national language is Hindi.

    India is diverse.

Pakistan has a sense of airlessness.

Clearly it doesn't really matter -- race is not a geographically bound classificatory scheme. As far as "race" is concerned, GGG and Pacquiao would almost certainly not be placed in the same category. Likewise, you wouldn't want to say that Marcel Cerdan is of an African race because he was born in Africa. If we can lump together Nelson Mandela and **** Tiger in the same race, then we can certainly place people on the Indian subcontinent (including Pakistan, ****ladesh, and Sri Lanka) in the same one. The classification choices will be arbitrary and problematic at the margins regardless.

At any rate, the most disturbing trend is the lack of some people to list more than a couple Latino fighters. Even you've only been around the sport for a couple years, you should be able to name five great fighters from Latin America. Lastly, how about some love Khaosai Galaxy, the great Thai champion?
Many seem unaware that Asia has been sub-divided geographically almost from the beginning of time. (India itself is always called a "sub-continent"). I mean that there are East Asia, Central Asia, South Asia, South-East Asia, and probably a few more.

Although the Topic Starter admitted to being "bored" he should also be aware that anyone who has a semi-journeyman like Marciano (who, just coincidentally was a very close friend of several Mafia gangsters. In fact the plane in which he was killed was owned by his close pal Frankie, son of Mafia Boss Louis Fratto, who was also killed.) on any list which isn't of the last 10 in the 200 top boxers really knows nothing of boxing.

      Bored-or not bored.

          Hmm...yes.

          Where to start?

****it... how come there ain't even a mention of Africa?

I remain convinced that we'll be seeing a few African champions emerging in the coming years, and East Asian fighters are already a significant force in the lower weight classes. If TRs Macao adventure succeeds in popularising boxing in China then likely expect a significant number of Chinese fighters in the top tier in a decade or two as well.

Eurasia (or Asia + Europe + India) is already producing many fighters at the top level, and the the central asian states have a superb tradition in combat sports that is likely to produce more champions in the coming years.

Curiously the Indian subcontinent appears to be one of the few places the sport has yet to take hold, despite being home to close to 1/6th of the world population and having a rich warrior culture in many regions.

Perhaps that'll change too in the coming years, but right now I see the the emerging Boxing cultures as Africa and Asia.

Dumb thread that doesn't contribute to anything boxing. No disrespect, but I rather keep it at (best boxers period). You have black and white Latinos, black and white Americans. We shouldn't ever judge just by skin tone, ethnicity, or nationality.

By the way...India/Pakistan are SOUTH EAST Asian countries. There is a difference.

              Ignorance is bliss!

Pakistan was originally part of India up to about 1947 when Britain gave the Indian People Independence. WW2 ruined the British Empire and it was cracking up all around the world. The present Pakistanis were a majority of ******s in that area, and began a war with the predominant Hindu population of the country over who would get Kashmir which wanted to join with India. It was a bitter war whilst it lasted and resulted in over 10 million refugees of both sides who exchanged areas. India still has a sizeable ****** popukation, I think around 60-65 mill who prefer to be in India.

So Amir Khan is an Indian..sort of...once removed.
