Yes, he has a lot of KO power and casuals love that, but a lot of boxers have great KO power and people don't tune in just to see it.
So you have to fight like Pacquiao or look like Canelo to be a star? I guess the dozens of boxing stars that didn't fit these criteria forgot to read the memo.

Just imagine if in 2007 I told you the next boxing superstar was going to be a momma's boy/geeky looking guy from Kazakhstan.
One of the startling things about GGG is that he looks kind of like Davy Jones. Except this Davy Jones swallowed the Jekyll and Hyde formula and takes names.

I'm not going to lie..... now you have me thinking and bring up a good point.
How the hell did he get such a damn jump?
His style is nice, but people like Pacquiao or Rios got the exciting style that keeps casuals interested throughout the fight.
Not saying Golovkin doesn't... but.... don't know how to explain it. Pac with his offensive fluries and Rios taking a beating while giving a beating.
The KOs and damage he doles out get people excited too.
Is this the result of being active?
I'm starting to think it is. He was on HBO 4 times in a little over a year and we've seen the exponential rise of his popularity.

Seriously....his debut numbers more than doubled in a year and I'm starting to think it's activity

It's the brutal manner in his style. He's basically got that classic KO style of a heavyweight but in a smaller, more skilled package. If Golovkin fights went 12 rounds with mostly jabs thrown, few people would care.

HBO has done a great job with GGG on their network. So yeah I would say he is Mr HBO. He has all the tools in what you like in a fighter thats why he's getting all these dates on their network.

While Americans...if you have an up and coming olympic boxer or just a flashy young boxer...they are constantly surrounded by yes men and get everything they want. Same with young future star basketball players. They get paid by future agents and all that stuff and perhaps gives them the impression that those material things will always be there.

              2 different types of mentality.

European players like Manu/Dirk/Parker/Rubio etc. have been playing pro ball with grown men their whole lives lol, I think Parker was pro at 15. Many schools don't have school sports like bball there, instead just clubs that they sign up for. Trust me I know lol.

I'm surprised they're not pumping out more stars tbh.

He's not all out action, but he's scary as **** to watch in action. It's not like he will just follow you like Donaire on the offensive, he keeps that jab pumping and throws soft shots to try to set you up.
