While Americans...if you have an up and coming olympic boxer or just a flashy young boxer...they are constantly surrounded by yes men and get everything they want. Same with young future star basketball players. They get paid by future agents and all that stuff and perhaps gives them the impression that those material things will always be there.

    2 different types of mentality.
The fact that they're even backing an Eastern Euro like this is pretty ****ing baffling, power or no. There have been plenty of brilliant eastern boxers but until recently they've been relegated to undercards at best. Even more shocking is that their investment appears to be paying off. No matter what kind of power GGG has I never thoought people would back him this quickly.

And to be perfectly honest, even though GGG is an excellent fighter, he's not THAT exciting, I mean he's no Pacman and he doesn't have the looks of Canelo. We as fans know he's excelent, but there is nothing about him that indicates he has star potential. Yes, he has a lot of KO power and casuals love that, but a lot of boxers have great KO power and people don't tune in just to see it.

Just imagine if in 2007 I told you the next boxing superstar was going to be a momma's boy/geeky looking guy from Kazakhstan.

Not Even Broner/Rees beat Golovkin. What was it? 1.4 to Golovkin's 1.5?
      That's sadder
Getting beat out by a foreigner

HA, I can never remember to call him Stevens. It's not natural for some reason.

I think it's the power, everyone loves a puncher. What kind of numbers is Kovalev doing?

God of War has grown on people. People like aggressive ko artists and he has that something that gets people interested in watching him fight. I'm a big fan but HBO needs to bring it back a notch. I know they are selling a product but Jim saying "Roy, you were the pound for pound king of the 90's and Golovkin may be the pound for pound king sometime in the future" had me rolling my eyes.

The guy pulls in numbers, and hasn't seemed to duck anyone. Hell, every time they interview a fighter after they have won and ask him who they'd like to fight, they always dodge the question... GGG straight up said Martinez. He's ready, willing, and able to make the big fights happen.

GGG is doing big numbers due to his consistency. Hes fought 5 times in a years span, and already has a fight lined up for Feb 1 against a grade-A fighter in Murray.

Most times when HBO is hyping a fighter up, that fighter becomes complacent with fighting once or twice a year. That, in turn, gives the public the chance to forget about them. An "out of site, out of mind" kind of situation. GGG stays busy all year, which keeps his name floating about so it doesn't give people the chance to forget about him.

Boxing fans realise Golovkin is the real deal and Broner is just some wannabe mug,who won't last long in the sport.

Why the hell do people have to pick one over the other? They aren't even near the same weight class. You think people would just be happy that people are watching boxing.

At least with Manny and Floyd there was a rivalry there. Right now people seem to be just throwing around names and rubbing them off each other because they're so used to vouching for one fighter over the other.
