It was more of Vic not allowing him to impress. He clearly studied Donaire and came in with a great strategy and most of all, to win. These are the fights he needs

He definitely didn't look impressive until the end but at least he got the 'W'.

He will not beat GR without devine intervention, I will say that.

That said, Darchinyan is still a beast and if he was Donaire's size he would have knocked him out in my opinion.

Like Mick said in Rocky, "the worst thing that can happen to a boxer is when he becomes civilized".

Nonito is now civilized and his career as a P4P fighter has expired.

He has nothing to be ashamed of though, he has provided a great life for his family and has a lot to show for his career.

You missed scoring a round. What happened to the 8th round if you scored 7?

Looks like his head is not in it 100%. He's not the fighter he once was. He needs to take 1 fight per year for the next 2 or 3 years against over the hill fighters with names and then try to take one more shot at it.

                Donaire is fine physically

                but mentally- he looked shot,,,

And boxing is 90% mental and donaire just doesnt seem to have a mental edge anymore,,,

And donaire is headed towards nothing but tough killers in the ring like salido, lomanchenko, rigo rematch,,

I think donaire needs to fight chris john for the title in macau,,, that is the only big fight i see him winning and getting back mentally

that kid, and the rigo fight seems to have soften the edge to donaire,,

Nonsense. You can't take someone's soul by running. Darchinyan has the killer instinct. Rigo has the survival instinct. Darchinyan is a true warrior. Rigo is a survivor and a runner. That's the huge difference. It's clearly a mistake for Donaire to be an offensive fighter when he's a natural counter puncher. But he had to entertain the booing public. Rigo was busy surviving. Nothing will happen if they're both waiting for action.

                    @ the Mick quote!

I don't think it has anything to do with being civilized though. He took an L for the first time, it seemed to have an affect. Lost some of that magic he had. He could've also been having a little bit of a bad night -- that's a point not everyone takes into consideration.

He still has a career, but I think the road is going to get tougher for him. Because every future fighter will be studying all these flaws that have been exposed. And they will try to capitalize on them.
