Cotto is definitely too small (in height and reach) for Martinez... Cotto doesn't have to risk his present position in the sport by taking such fight. Rubio is closer in size to Martinez... (Rubio also has fights at SMW and LHW)...

(But does anybody hear that, at this point, Sergio initiated a kind of training of some sort? Is he still recovering from multiple injuries or what?)

Rodriguez was, but that's understandable after two losses in a row. Mayorga was an acceptable stay busy fight. Margo was hardly a gimme, and an undefeated Yuri Foreman was a tough comeback opponent after a brutal loss to Pac.

But anyway, I didn't say he beat everyone. All I said was that he fought a tough schedule, and that's undeniable. He fought almost literally everyone that mattered in the three divisions he competed in (the only notable miss that comes to mind is Paul Williams and Cotto is in good company in avoiding him).

Imo he is entitled to one last big payday.

I respectful disagree about Maragaritto, a long time since he had done anything of merit in the sport. Also Yuri foreman was feather-fisted and the perfect comeback fight. Should never have been a world champion really.

Overall Cotto has had some massive paydays fight after fight. But really I don't hold anything against him landing another payday as any other boxer, but I was just pissed that Martinez might miss out on one over canelo.

Honestly i hope that Martinez gets the fight more than canelo because he's a fighter who has been forced to fight the best and even give up his title to fight more dangerous fighters to get on hbo.

If anyone is deserving a last payday here it's Martinez.

Martinez is a coward to go after a washed-up, undersized Cotto.

IMO, Martinez is getting some bad career advice. He has reached a point in his career where there's no telling what happens when he steps in the ring on fight night, regardless of who he's fighting. Rubio isn't about fulfilling a mandatory. Rubio is about taking a gimmie and waiting out Floyd, Canelo, or Cotto. Problem with that is, his health is so unpredictable that he could lose to Rubio. I know he doesn't wanna do it. But if he can't land one of the Big 3, he needs to go ahead and take his medicine with GGG. GGG doesn't offer the monster payday he'd hoped. But GGG has done well enough numbers wise for Serg to collect a decent payday. And even if he loses. There's always gonna e gettable beltholders at 154 or 160 that Serg could fight, possibily grab a belt, and still entice a Floyd, Canelo, or Cotto to to fight him. And actually, after a loss, he'd be more clearly in decline and on of the Big 3 would likely be more keen on fighting him.

Poor ole Sergio , trying to make up his mind, he is the lineal mang, who beat the mang and trying to please Sul.

I reckon he should fight Rubio then fight GGG in the fall of 2014. Lou Dibella can't keep Sergio away forever.

                    or

Sergio can avoid GGG only so long, so its probably just best to hand over the title and concede the fight, no need in getting KO'd,,,,RIGHT ????????!!!!!!
