Ward, for all his achievements, is still simply uncared for. Due to that fact, he still needs guys who create buzz in the sport as much or more than they need him.

At 175 for instance, we have 2 new belt holders who are creating buzz. They are going to be on the same card soon and will eventually fight each other. The winner will be high profile and will have leagues of fans.

Ward sits back at a weight class he already cleaned out and wants to just do defenses. You know what? That is fine. Do your thing. Like on twitter lately he has been an a$$hole wondering why everyone else is getting all these accolades, but not him. He does not realize or simply cannot fathom that fans gravitate towards those who create energy. They do not even have to be liked, they only have to inspire awe.

Golovkin's a great MW talent but what makes him a better win than someone like Stieglitz at 168?

Apart from sparring stories we have no idea whether he's able to move up and deal with even the second tier at SMW (e.g. Bika/Stieglitz).

Please stop this nonsense: "he can't fight Ward because he's not ready"... "he didn't earn it"...
          Who's ready: Rodriguez?
          This is pure crap...
... If it sells, if fans want it -- then make it happen...

He hasn't even dealt with a top MW lol. His best win remains Mathew Macklin who people insulted Martinez for even fighting. I doubt he takes out SMW's as easy, since he couldn't finish Rosado coming up from 154 (He beat him around and cut him but not quite finish him)

              what did stiggy do?

go 1 and 1 with arthur the babe, who is tough, but has done nothing since he was at MW?

golovkin is a much better fighter than abraham, man. much better.

stiggy was stopped (yes, stopped,) by liberado andrade. it's the only time he's ever left germany.

scratch that, actually. he had a close 8 round UD win in AC.

Fair point, but keeping it to SMWs, on paper he's not a great win because he's simply not proven in the division. It's really just a decent to good win over a 160 champ stepping up.

if ward can beat rodriguez, froch 2, chavez jr, GGG, and go up and beat stevenson/kovolev and then maybe the bute/pascal winner,, then i think he could leapfrog floyd,,,

but if floyd stays active and fights, khan, garcia, manny, bradley, broner,, then it would be tough for ward to leapfrog,,,

Floyd and ward both have alot of big fights in the horizon,, it will probably come down to who has looked more dominant in there wins over the next 2 years

HBO would be going crazy though, they seem to believe GG is the next big thing. If Ward/Froch/other SMW fought him they would build it up as a Monster fight
