    The posts in this thread...damn.

I'm willing to bet Rodriguez beats down Golovkin at 168, and fights competitively against Kovalev, probably beats him. I just don't understand why fans like to blow up fighters so much. Downplay one fighter who could possibly beat the fighters they are hyping up. Rodriguez is the perfect fight for Ward right now, he's not going to be a walk in the park. He has an awkward style and throws a lot of punches, and also has power.

      Not so simple, lad...
Ward can stick onto his opponent chest all night and pretend he's performing "old school inside boxing"... And Ward eventually wins by UD... That's what he does... He's smart in an utmost manner...

Rodriguez is decent, solid but just not that good really.

If he can't get Golovkin or someone like Martinez at 168, he should just move to 175 that's where big fights are and they're all easy to make, Kovalev, Stevenson etc.
I think getting back to being active should be next year. GGG will be at 68 eventually and I'd like to see him take that fight when it becomes doable. In the meantime just stay active, make defenses and maybe even take a Froch rematch or fight the winner of GGG vs Froch, Froch vs Chavez or whatever else gets made.

Stevenson, Kovalev, Pascal, Bute and maybe Hopkins will have a tournament type thing next year so 175 is pretty much booked for a few more fights.

Your logic: Beating the lineal champ at 175 Dawson, at 168 is a legacy boosting win......

Beating the new lineal champ at 175 would mean nothing......

          Yeah, strong logic bro.

For the record: I'm not saying if Ward doesn't fight them, he would lose credibility........

This is how the sport of boxing is supposed to work. 1 champion defending against the highest ranked contenders.

GGG, Kovalev and Stevenson haven't come close to cleaning out their divisions.

Yet Ward gets criticized and people suck these other guys off so much its become a part of their daily nutritional diet.

Ward is the reigning king at 168. If you want to fight him, put in work and get ranked in that division so you can get your ass kicked on HBO.
The most sensible post in this thread. Good post.

Your ******ed mind: Skips over the fact that Dawson's resume sh-ts on Stevenson's. Which is why I said more proven. One big win making you the champ of the division doesn't automatically make you equal in accomplishments as the guy you beat.

Rigondeaux kicked Donaire's ass, Donaire still has the edge in resume and pro accomplishments.

              F-cking IQ of NSB.

So Ward should just call it a career, quit and retire because there's no possible fights that can further his potential ATG status due to lack of resumes?

Sky would be the limit for Ward if he was to beat Stevenson and/or Kovalev. Those would be fantastic wins for him

I'd be happy with what you've outlined at 168 but options are minimal.

He needs to get into the mix at 175.

Ward (if fully recovered) would easily annihilate everything Rodriguez would try to do. Ward annihilates opponent's styles with ease... That's his magic...

Dude you're saying that beating 2 of the top 3 fighters at 175 would do nothing for Ward.... How ****ing ridiculous is that? Again, since he cleaned out 168, aren't you pretty much saying that he should just Retire because he reached his resume/atg status/legacy peak?

I'm not even going to talk about the fact that you think Edwin Rodriguez is as good as those two because that's completely subjective, I disagree, but that's irrelevant.
