Again, no matter what he does to Rodriguez, E-Rod deserved the shot. He took on a dangerous fighter who TKO'ed upset Sillakh (Kovalev's next opponent BTW), fought a very close fight with Bute, and finally took Erdei's 0. Grachev was a very dangerous opponent. Rodriguez destroyed him in 1 round.
Of course Rodriguez is not Eastern European so the win doesn't get much hype. Meanwhile Golovkin knocks out Ishida and Stevens and all of a sudden he could knock Kessler and Froch out at 168 and would be the best opponent for Ward.
Keep digging a hole for Golovkin, all of you. You'll fall down harder than the delusional ass Matthysse fans saying Matthysse knocks out Mayweather and Pacquiao.
So Ward should just call it a career, quit and retire because there's no possible fights that can further his potential ATG status due to lack of resumes?
Sky would be the limit for Ward if he was to beat Stevenson and/or Kovalev. Those would be fantastic wins for him
He just needs to get to 175. He's got little options at 168 and cleaned it out pretty much of all the best fighters.
There's lots of great fights for him at 175 including the Lineage.

Best opponent for Ward? Ha.... Clearly I have been talking about Stevenson-Kovalev this whole time....
Okay, I see you have an agenda now, that makes sense.
Nothing changes the fact that you believe that Stevenson or Kovalev are meaningless wins for Ward and would do nothing for his career (basically implying he should just retire because after Edwin, there's no possible way for him to boost his ATG status, etc)
My stance in this is that Golovkin is a Middleweight with no stand out wins(Top 3 wins) in his weight class and his fans and the media need to stop insulting Andre Ward by bringing Golovkin's name up as if he's done sh-t anywhere other than in the amateurs.
If Golovkin beats Murray, that will be step #1. When he does that, you can hype him all you want(although that's already what is happening now).

Rodriguez is a good solid fighter and it's a good comeback fight but it's not really an overly good win.

I'm pretty sure I've made it clear that I'm primarily talking about Kovalev and Stevenson and only mentioned Golovkin because he's mentioned in the article.
I'm not sure what your stance is in saying that a W over Stevenson/Kovalev would do nothing for his career... not Golovkin
