Was Vargas a lucky bum, decent, good, or great pugilist??

I like Vargas, he had a ton of heart, could **** and was willing to fight anyone.
He was thrown to the wolves against Tito. He fought back well after a disastrous start and had his moments, even forcing Tito to resort to a few dirty tricks to stop his momentum. Of course tito was an animal and eventually caught up to him.
I think it was the de la Hoya fight that ruined el feroz. To be dropped and stopped by the goldenboy really hit him hard and he was never the same again.
He was a fighter that could have been great if he was guided correctly, more like canelo, but ultimately his warrior spirit prevented him from reaching his true potential.Comment

damn solid fighter, tough as nails w good technique...got fed to the lion just a little to early...tito was vicious in that fightComment

A good fighter that just wasn't a puncher. He had decent defense on the foward march but at the end he was too brave for his chin. He fought top opposition of the time, won some and lost some.
He was a punk with his mouth though calling himself a bully or a tough guy.Comment

to this day my all time favorite fighter fn "FEROZ" FERNANDO VARGAS. hell of a fighter indeed. big wins against ike quarty, and winky wright. I remember being a kid and cheering so hard for him against de la hoyas girly a$$. that fight produced a huge fight party from my famliy. it was funny cause my parents house was split lol good fn memories. but if ure on here saying he was a bum then u my friend dont know $hi! about boxing. just look at his fights and tell me he didnt have some serious skills. any how he fought tito to quick. tito runied him. if trinidad was in his prime today nobody at 154 could match his power not nelo, trout lara perro. weak a$$ division compared to the ones who fought there when i was a kid.Comment

Silly myth is silly.
After Chavez, Taylor moved up to welterweight where he once again became a world champion. The reason his career didn't pan out too well after that was because he was too small for the division, not because Julio Cesar Chavez ruined his career.
You guys put too much stock into 'Legendary Nights.'Comment
