Ortiz was dumb in that fight, he could have won if he stuck to the game plan of punches in bunches, but that is his weakness, he gets drawn into a war easily. Hopefully he'll come back sharper and stronger....what beast was Bradley facing at 22?
At age 23, Fernando Vargas fought a much better opponent than Ortiz will ever face in Felix Trinidad, got dropped twice in the first round... But kept fighting till he couldn't fight no more

1 year younger, Ortiz couldn't handle a simple brawler BEFORE he had any of the limited boxing skills he possesses today... And he didn't go out on his shield... He'd be forgiven for that... He flat out quit in one of the most embarrassing displays in recent memory...

I mean, look at their resumes...

Bradley has JMM, Manny Pacquiao, Devon Alexander, and a blowout victory over Lamont Peterson on his resume... Even if u take Pacquiao out, Victor Ortiz still doesn't even come close...

I mean, he almost got knocked out by Andre Berto, and as the smoke cleared on Berto, we realize that is actually kinda embarrassing when u think about it...

Honestly, Victor Ortiz and Jesus Sotto Karass are on par with one another as Berto is their best victory... Karass is a journeyman

Ortiz would destroy Khan, Guerrero would get whipped too, Bradley is too small and can't punch and Maidana he can win if he doesn't fight dumb like last time.

Say what you want about Berto, but he was on a 25 win unbeaten streak at the time, was highly touted and had a good amateur background, I have heard he beat Bradley in the amateurs....and getting knocked down by Berto isn't such a big deal, Berto is a big puncher, and for all we know he could have been on the juice in that fight as he has been caught previously.

Bradley lost to Pacquiao, beat an old JMM who happened to have Pac's number by outworking the old man, he landed fewer power punches so it was mainly his youth that got him through, Lamont Peterson is garbage, and Devon Alexander is an ordinary B fighter.

                  Ortiz is mediocre.

Loses to Bradley, Alexander, Broner, Gurrero.

He had a Buster moment vs Berto, but Berto was no Tyson.

OP is right. I like Ortiz over a lot of the dudes in GBP 140-147. Ortiz has tremendous power and talent. He needs a trainer like Roach to cultivate that skill and inject some mental toughness.

I don't know why Ortiz gets hate, he's always in entertaining fights and puts on a show. He's unpredictable at time, but that's his schtick.

I hope he comes back reinvigorated and ready to become champion. His best days are still in front of him.
