I agree the rain on the canvas hindered Sergio, but two fights in a row his knee has gave on him. A fighter who knows how to cut off the ring, unlike Chavez Jr. and Murray, who followed Sergio and waited for him to corner himself. It's gonna be a barnburner, that's for sure.

Told ya people. That means Canelo will be looking for his next fight comparable to either Martinez or Cotto. Won't be easy, Mr Schaefer. You're gonna have to stoop low and expect a non-PPV fight for Mr Alvarez.

Both are excellent but the Martinez hits very hard.

This isn't a good idea for Miguel.

Fighting Austin Trout and Sergio Martinez have been Winky-like moves for Cotto. Not good, and there were other beatable opponents out there that would have been popular fights.

The fight I wanted to see was Cotto vs Canelo but it's okay, Cotto vs Martinez should be good because Martinez is no longer the same. It's a 55-45 fight now in favor of Martinez. It used to be 70-30.

good luck to cotto. he has made a fan out of me with this move, moving up to fight the bigger opponent. Martinez should take note of this. are they going to fight at mw or a cw?

                ???

Mayweather fighting DLH, Canelo and Cotto at JMW would virtually be the equivalent of Cotto fighting Kessler, Froch, Bute at 164 catchweight.

Keep in mind you are comparing a former SFW to a former JWW. Cotto started 10 lbs heavier than Mayweather. The least he could do is fight Martinez at 160. The equal thing to do as far as weight divisions, is fight at 168.

This is the best chance Cotto has vs Martinez in his life with Martinez possibly still not fully recovered for the knee.

Little over a year ago this is a slaughter with Cotto being sacrificed to the boxing gods to appease the fans.

And Deltoro.. martinez should take note? He DID move up to find better opposition and has stayed there looking for a fighter closer to his size. Martinez moved up voluntarily in his mid 30s. He wasnt run out of his class. :/

Why would it be a hard sell for Canelo? He has a huge fanbase. Hell Chavez JR was on crap PPVs before he even fought a world class guy

It depends on how bad Cotto gets beat and how much he has left but I agree. Cotto has to be getting at least 4 or 5 million for a Martinez fight. A fight with Canelo could have been a huge PPV but Canelo could have been exposed. At the end of the day Cotto can box and didnt come close to looking like a bobble head against Mayweather.
