I'm just curious. Even if Martinez has gotten "old", what makes people think Cotto can do well at the middle weight division? He definitely has a hall of fame career, but his resume at Light Middle weight is a Who's who of "Where are they now?". He beat Yuri Foreman. Haven't heard of him since. He beat Ricardo Mayorga, who is now a fat UFC fighter. He beat Margarito, who was damaged from the Pacquiao fight. Lost to Mayweather. Lost to Trout. I'm just trying to figure out why people think he would put up a good fight at middleweight. His best win at 154 lbs is Delvin Rodriguez....Let that sink in for a moment. I'm really not trying to be a hater but I just don't see him handling the weight well. Just my 2 cents.
Why do people think Cotto would beat Martinez?

It would be one hell of a battle for Cotto but he can do it. Martinez has been down in his last three fights and Cotto does pack a punch that should translate well against Martinez. Cotto does have a chance at hurting Martinez at this stage in his career and finishing him. -

I'm not saying Cotto has ZERO chance of winning. It's just that, at 154, he lost to the better competition. His punch should translate to a degree, but I'm inclined to think that Chavez Jr punches harder and Maravilla was able to survive his final onslaught. It would be one hell of a battle for Cotto but he can do it.
