Those match up looks good on paper. But in reality it would be hard to look against any of those guys and let alone there is a possibility they might lose their respective matches.

I do and dont like this plan,,, I like the split site ppv idea but not the opponents,,

molina, lara, trout are all to risky, and even if canelo and cotto win, they wont look good at all in doing so,,,

      IMO

canelo-angulo-- both coming off loses,, good action fight

cotto-ortiz-- big money action fight, if not ortiz then k9 or ghost, soto-karass, etc

i think canelo and cotto would look terrific and then their summer fight gets even bigger

but them in with molina, trout and lara is a recipe for doom

That makes more sense to me, especially for Canelo. I can't see them matching him with Lara. Angulo is an easier mark and easier to sell to the public with Angulo's style.

I think the idea is to make Cotto/Canelo a world championship fight. That's why Lara (WBA regular) and Molina (IBF) are in the mix.

Plus Lara and Molina have been ducked by the rest of the division for too long. If Lara beats Trout he needs to get Floyd or Canelo ASAP.

I would like to see that as well if boxing was an actual sport,, but its a money-grabbing business and putting cotto-canelo up vs lara, trout, molina is a recipe for disaster,,, remember when they had oscar-sturm and hopkins-allen on the same card to setup hopkins-oscar,,, oscar looked like crap vs sturm and hopkins was boring vs allen, and i think it really hurt the hype and ppv buys for it.......

plus that is what is wrong with boxing,,, floyd is the 154 champ, like it or not,, all these belts these guys have dont mean crap,,,,

molina beat ishe who beat k9 who beat spinks

lara/trout is for a vacant belt

none of those guys are true champs,,,,

not to be mean but you are the exact reason why we have so many belts and sanctioning bodies,, people wanna see a "title" fight,, not caring if the belts actually mean anything or the guy is a legit champ,,,,,That is why boxing is a joke of a sport
Boxing fans shouldnt care about the belts because they are meaningless, you should just wanna see good fights,,,

Why is GBP looking for OTHERS to come do Canelo dirty work and beat Molina! Why don't Canelo jump in with Molina and quickly try to get another belt around his waist

Just strange that they would rather throw Ortiz in with Molina or get Cotto to come fight Molina but Canelo is not even being mentioned

Floyd is the 154 champ. But, he's not fighting at that weight unless there is big money involved. In the mean time, its up to the remaining pieces in the division to fight each other to determine who the champ is if and when he vacates. Its not my fault these paper belts exist. Its the champions fault for not fighting their mandatories and the top contenders in line for their titles.

And there can not be a credible champion or top contender at 154 if you simply skip over Molina and the Lara/Trout winner. GBP is trying to find a sacrificial lamb to take Molina's belt. The IBF shot down Ortiz and rightfully so. If this rumor is true, then it looks like Cotto is trying to become that new pawn to prevent a Canelo vs. Molina fight.

We should see Cotto vs Alvarez and Bob Arum won't have a thing to say about it. When you want a fight that Bob Arum doesn't, you remove him from the equation. Cotto has successfully done this before.

Floyd has done this for the better half of his career. People forget that Bob wanted Floyd to duck Hoya. He didn't want Floyd fighting Cotto or Hatton either.

Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer has advised BoxingScene.com that an offer "in excess of $10 million dollars" was presented to former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (38-4 32KOs), for a Showtime Pay-Per-View battle on March 8th against Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (42-1-1, 30KOs). Schaefer had a meeting with Cotto and his team on Tuesday, where they discussed several topics - including the mega-match with Cabelo. Cotto, a promotional free agent, worked with Golden Boy for both of his 2012 fights - against Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Austin Trout. For his last fight, against Delvin Rodriguez on October 5th, Cotto worked with Top Rank. "The main topic of discussion was a potential Canelo fight. I made him a very lucrative offer, eight figures...well in excess of $10 million dollars. He said he is going to let me know what he decides to do. I told him it could be a one fight deal or a series of fights, whatever he wants to do," Shcaefer told BoxingScene.com.
