After watching GGG against Stevens..

It's hard making predictions on anything. I can just say, How do you know that A level opponent has ever taken a punch as hard as his? How can we say that A level opponent has fought a fighter with the ring stalking ability as Golovkin? How do we know that A level fighter's chin has been tested against a puncher like Golovkin? And on top of that, how do we even know Golovkin would have to make a change? How do we know the A level opponent can or cannot contain a Golovkin maniac bumrush from the oppening bell?
It's not going to be Golovkin in the ring by himself, there will be someone else and they will have to make their own adjustments, etc..... this "A level" guy isn't going to just walk into thering and act like hot **** and know he's on his way to an easy victory. This is going to be serious business, for anybody. Golovkin would be a test for anyone right now. Anything that happened before in their careers gets thrown out the window

GGG is far superior to Matthysse. Besides, there is nothing wrong with winning a tough fight. Here on NSB too many posters think thats a sign of weakness. I think its a strength. It's quite clear he can easily be outboxed and counter. People talk about his jab and how well he uses it but when Stevens was getting a rhythm in some rounds he was getting out jabbed. He seem to have to reset everything he was trying to do once Stevens hit him. Also he shows that he can only come forward and need medium range to get off his shots. His distance and using angles aren't very smart.. He will get ****d shortly once a true boxer get in the ring with him. He's good but not great.. Matthyse was better than him.Comment

Lol'd @ Matthysse better then Stevens.
Agreed with you, but I don't even think the Stevens fight was that tough for Golovkin, do you? I mean he was a bit cautious but from the second round, you can kinda tell he had it in the bag, he was so relaxed and composed and people are going crazy over Stevens hitting Golovkin back......... I see that as a good thing! Golovkins chin got exposed as pretty good.
People need to keep in mind that when you fight coming forward and with the style that Abel has Golovkin fighting, it's impossible to not get hit, and not only that but I actually saw some good defensive tactics, he would roll his shoulder at times to evade Stevens punches, among other things.
And lastly...... To anyone saying Stevens outboxed Golovkin (for more then......20 seconds) at any time in the fight, the final punch stats showed that Golovkin landed 8 less punches then Stevens threw.
That should about sum it up right there, Golovkin put on a great performance, it really was a one sided fight. Hell like Tyson says "everyones got a gamplen til you get punched in the face" well the funny thing was, that held true here..... because whatever gameplan Stevens had, that went out the window in the 2nd round because clearly, you can see from that point on he was just trying to survive (yes you can throw punches while trying to survive, and when a guy comes forward constantly, he will be hit)Comment

I think the less power his future opponents have, the easier for Golovkin (Martinez)
Honest to goodness, I just see absolutely no way anyone without bricks in their hand will be able to keep Golovkin off for 12 rounds. Whoever does it, props.... they will have a hell of a career/legacy.
A lot of people have been saying a guy with speed and footwork will beat Golovkin...... I don't think thats enough. He needs the whole package, on top of the speed he either needs an iron chin - or iron fists. A fighter without one of those, has absolutely no chance to beat Golovkin, IMO.Last edited by King_; 11-07-2013, 10:57 AM.Comment

I thought GGG looked good. That said, he didn't meet some posters expectations of a much easier, quicker KO. In that respect, he is getting criticized the same way Broner did when he didn't meet expectations against paulie.Lol'd @ Matthysse better then Stevens.

To be fair, Stevens went into his shell and survival mode from the second round... it's makes it harder to KO a guy under those circumstances, espcially when his coaches gameplan was to use the jab and outbox his opponent as well.
Forcing a guy on his bike, and systematically breaking him down until he wants no more is just as beautiful to me, IMOComment

I agree with you whole heartedly. I don't see either Quillin or Martinez beating this man. They would have a better chance of standing in the surf and holding back the waves. Martinez would dance all night, and Quillin would be chopped down.I think the less power his future opponents have, the easier for Golovkin (Martinez)
