Stevens is fast, not particularly skilful but fast. I'd compare Golovkin's speed with Hagler's, fast enough but not anything special.

He has good speed not great speed and he was a whole lot faster.

I would definitely say he's slower than Hagler.

There were times where he was throwing ridiculously slow punches.

Golovkin's jab is actually the most impressive thing about Golovkin, I think it might also be the most powerful jab there has ever been in the middleweight division.

Golovkin had no bad moments. He took some hits, but it's ****ing boxing. He was completely unphased by the best Stevens had to throw.

However, if people here can't understand that GGG was taking risks and opening himself up to try and get Stevens out of the high guard...then I'm not quite sure what to say. This is boxing 101.

He varies the speed though, it is of course very hard to tell but I think it is about the same as Hagler, basically what I'm saying is it not really a flaw to me. Whenever I hear speed being a flaw I always think Carlos Monzon.

                Yes, that's called using skills.

You know there is a kind of skill, where you change the speed of your punches to create openings and offset your opponents reaction times?

GGG does that, a lot. I'd agree he isn't very fast though, but his timing is good, and timing beats speed when a fighter is cerebral like Genna.

I don't think he performed badly by any means, but this fight does suggest to me that his performance against Ouma was more a result of what Ouma did rather than Golovkin being tired or jet lagged or whatever.

Ouma did an excellent job of disrupting Golovkin's rhythm in those first five rounds or so. Never allowed him to set his feet, darted in-and-out of range and really exposed Golovkin's limitations when being backed up. The sheer volume and variety in Ouma's offense resulted in him landing more cleanly and consistently than anyone's ever landed on him before.

That said, I'd still favour Golovkin to beat anyone at 160, and especially Martinez.

I would believe you, but Golovkin takes these same risks every time against any style. This time he was tagged more because he had no idea how to cover up against someone who was fighting back. He really did look the definition of 'clueless' whenever Stevens was on the attack. No covering up, no countering, nothing, just put his chin out there and it didn't look like he did it purposely, it just looked like he didn't know what to do while on defense.

I honestly cannot tell if you are being serious or not. Golovkin looked clueless? He got tagged a few times, and took 1 step back momentarily, then continued his attack.

Holy ****. Tone the down the hype-train hate.
