Madison Square Garden Theater, New York - Gennady Golovkin (28-0, 25KOs) had his toughest test, but still managed to beat up, and stop Curtis Stevens (25-4, 18KOs) to retain the WBA/IBO middleweight titles.
The first round was cautious for both, with each side landing good punches. In the second, the final seconds saw Golovkin land two big shots to send Stevens down hard. Stevens was able to survive to the bell. Golovkin dominated the third with activity. After it appeared that Golovkin was taking over the entire fourth, Stevens rallied with a power punching storm in the final thirty seconds.
