Guess i was right about this guy and the fight it seemed like he was gassing by the fourth but had an extra gear and some chin. Great performance and triumph for Perez. I think his problem was he was not gassed completely but he was spending all the energy he had for the round at the beginning of the round as the fight went on he learned to ration that better and spread his energy better it was a fun fight (I cant remember last time i said that about a HW fight that went the distance)

Great post, and my thoughts exactly.

That said, Perez is a complete fighter. I am very excited to see what he can do in the division.

So nice to see a good heavyweight fight tonight.

I expect Mago to get cashed in -- he's 32, he has a good enough punch that he might knock some decent fighters out, but not enough upside in him overall for his management/promoter to sink a lot of money into and spend a year or more rehabilitating to try to get him into contention.

I figure he takes some time off to heal, gets an easy win and then takes whatever the best offers out there are -- probably in Europe -- and they hope he wins a fight or two as an underdog to get a big payday.

What you guys think on him vs Wilder?
I think Perez has good skill and head movement but is fairly easy to hit, especially for a rangy and powerful Wilder.

              Great fight!

it was 2-2 going into the 5th round. I had magomed with the momentum after winning rounds 3 & 4 then the big right hook early in the 5th changed the fight. I saw magomed flinch & his face immediately swelled up & something looked broken. perez took over the fight from that punch on. they didn't start talking about it until the 6th. watch it again & you will see the punch in the 5th that changed the fight. magomed can take a punch but so can perez. best heavyweight fight of the year. even better then szpilka\mollo fights. huge set back for abdusalamov as he was WBC #4 & his spot will change in the WBC world cup. he will need time to heal it looks like anyway. I want to see both again. perez can take a serious punch & has good hand speed. this was a tough fight to call & they were very evenly matched. both guys showed great heart & neither is a hype job. I want to see both fighters again.

all 4 heavyweights who fought today had about the same amount of pro experience. after seeing all 4 today perez gets the nod as the top guy of these 4. I think perez & magomed clean the floor with lucas browne. I don't think browne would be able to absorb either perez or magomed's shots for 10 rounds nor do I think he would be able to keep up to the pace magomed & perez look capable of setting... I want to see browne vs price, perez & magomed...

I thought this fight was more entertaining than ten Klitschko fights added together.

It was a great fight, especially since I was surprised given how the recent heavyweight division had been. Would definitely enjoy part 2, if they can do it.

Btw, max and Roy calling this fight better than the David Tua -ike fight was a joke.
