Absolutely cotto cuts quica good defensive can't fight moving backwards, and canelo can crack and roach teaches no defense.

Cotto doesnt need roach to teach him defense, hes already agood defensive fighter. Cotto is adept at fighting moving backwards as in the margarito fight. The thing is theres no need to fight canelo moving backwards because hes not a pressure fighter or a volume puncher. Canelo is a cheap imitation of Floyd, at his best he is an elite counter puncher. Problem is its not easy to counter Cotto. Floyd tried and was not ableto counter Cotto consistently. Mayweather landed close to 50 percent of his shots on Canelo, while only landing 26 percent of his shots on Cotto . Cotto also through far more punches in his fight than canelo did in his, which gave Mayweather more chances to counter and he wasn't able to.

I wouldnt put too much stock in either of their performances against trout.
Canelo fought a very passive and defensive fight. Cotto landed more and out threw Canelo by a wide margin.it's a lot easier to be a efficient when you only throw four hundred and fifty punches

the truth is Canelo has never faced a true pressure fighter with the skill set of a Miguel Cotto.I believe Floyd Mayweather hurt Canela a couple of times and made him gun shy. I believe Austin trout hurt canelo to the body. I believe canelo has trouble making 154 and I believe Cotto would break him down and tko him.

Interesting. 'Nelo brings bigger $s but probably Martinez ain't so far behind and also brings a title at 160. Thing is, neither deal will come without some strings.

Cotto is in a stonger bargaining position vis-a-vis Sergio, I'd guess, but Maravilla is still tied to HBO for now, and they are not gonna want him to risk losing the MW lineal title to a fighter they don't control. Most likely HBO would want Cotto to defend 'gainst GGG if he was able to beat Sergio, and I'm guessing that's something he's not so eager for.

For Cotto to fight 'Nelo means almost certainly another 1 or 2 fights on SHO who El Angel has already had bad experiences with, also probably it means waving goodbye to his best shot at a MW title. I doubt Sergio is waiting around for Cotto to fight out a SHO contract and Quillin is not likely to be on the menu. 'Nelo is a big fight in his own right, but if I were Cotto, I'd basically be demanding another shot at Floyd to take the 'Nelo fight.

Are you forgetting Quillen is holding the gift wrapped MW WBO title for someone like a Mayweather or Cotto to take of his hands when the time is right......

100% agree. Canelo has never been in a war and Cotto will give him just that and will stop him around 9-10rd.
