Chavez definitely had a good defense, underrated this day and age, and was very very skilled but his defense simply wasn't great.

His defense was no better than Marquez' or Morales' IMO.
Marquez was never the aggressive machine Chavez was.

My point is for someone to be that offensive and still have very good defense is just great overall.

      Of course.

Chavez is an all time great I doubt anyone would dispute that.

I think TS meant he was slick for the type of fighter that he was.

I can't speak for Ruben but I for one would never say Broner has a better defence than Chavez.

Broner I wouldn't describe as Slick either.
Never called Broner slick or ever rated his defence on here, so this guy is just pulling random crap out of nowhere.

Thats not what the thread title states and he TS would still be wrong if that were the case.

Like the TS said, he hardly ever got cut, swollen or any marks at all. There's a reason for that.
Great is a stretch but he was damn good defensively.

That's going too far, Chavez would have never gotten bombarded with punches the way Marquez did against Diaz and Katsidis, granted a prime Marquez primarily used his legs to defend but Chavez knew how to roll and smother his opponents.

In my honest opinion, off topic here but Chavez would have destroyed Pryor and I don't think it would be that competitive.

marquez in his hey day wouldve never gotten tagged the way he did against diaz or katsdis.

both chavez and marquez's defense decreased at that age (mid to late 30's)

Also, people don't even understand what the definition of slick is, slick is being able to get your opponent to take the bait. The way Judah set Mayweather up, how Judah would paw with the jab and as soon as Mayweather reacted (Any little twitch) Judah's straight left hand came down the middle, that's slick. Or how Hopkins in instances jumped in against Tito, mind you he jumped in with the sole intention of then getting out, Tito reacted and Hopkins hit him with a short right hook. Doesn't have to be that complex though, hopefully you guys get my drill.
