Question about Bradley,Andre Ward,Broner,Hopkins,rigondeaux

Black People if you will are known for not supporting their own people, they will never have a Mexican turn out to one of their fights, and what I believe fuels that is the lack of exciting Black fighters.Ward, Bradley and Hopkins are millionaires and have either already or will headline PPvs. But they will never become mega stars because their fan bases are small. And the primary reason is the lack of interest in boxing in black America.
And everybody knows who Bernard Hopkins is. But my point is, every boxing megastar nowadays:
Pacquiao, Cotto, Canelo, have a core fan base that has allowed them to reach superstardom. Bradley, Ward, Rigo, etc. don't have that. I'd be shocked if Thurman and Quillin ever reach that level of superstardom.
Mayweather has done it through winning and celebrity appeal outside of the ring and that's the route Broner is taking. Bradley, Ward and Rigo are quiet and humble and won't ever get that cross over appeal.
Sergio Martinez isn't boring and he isn't a megastar in America. Same thing different group.
Their is probably 2 exciting black fighters in all of boxing, (well american black, and lets be honest that all who american blacks care about) and that Broner and Wilder, they roll with Mayweather because He's mayweather and they love the hate mayweather gets and they feed off that. But off pure excitment thats the only 2 exciting black boxers in boxing today, one broner is barley getting known the other wilder is not known at all.
so giving all that its no reason Black Boxers dont get their support.
Basically saying what you are saying, but broke it down why that is.Comment

Mayweather is the biggest star ever and he isn't known for having exciting fights. Based on that alone there is no correlation between exciting fighters and superstardom.Black People if you will are known for not supporting their own people, they will never have a Mexican turn out to one of their fights, and what I believe fuels that is the lack of exciting Black fighters.

The thing all super stars have in common is greatness, support from core fan base and cross over appeal. Or some combination of the three.Comment

Mayweather is the product of his envoirment. He is the only fighter that lived in the social media where as it is now, he is the only fighter of his caliber to not have real competition available.Mayweather is the biggest star ever and he isn't known for having exciting fights. Product of his envoirment.

Mike Tyson had cross over appeal and achieved greatness. Plus his antics outside of the ring helped too. Same with Ali.Mayweather is the product of his envoirment. He did the same thing Floyd did. Trash talk and hype the fight up.
And all fighters have the benefit of social media.Last edited by -PBP-; 10-26-2013, 12:10 AM.Comment

And I know where your getting at. You think I'm pulling the race card and saying "these fighters get hated on because they are black". Which is incorrect and speaks more about your reading comprehension more so than anything.Comment
