Floyd Mayweather Jr and it's not close. Not only will I take the fighters he beat into consideration, but also the accomplishments. He won two different Ring titles in one year, at 147 and 154, which are BTW his 4th and 5th weight class, which is the equivalent of the largely overhyped Gennady Golovkin winning Ring titles at 175 and Cruiserweight.

Rigondeaux has one victory over Donaire, and while Mayweather's win over Canelo was impressive, nobody in their right mind thought that Guerrero was going to do **** but get schooled.

You guys place way too much emphasis on names. I'll take a fighter who fights 3-4 times a year against top 10 opponents over some f*g who fights once or twice a year against guys he's expected to beat.
Let me start with the end. A fighter who fights 3-4 times a year against top 10 opponents over some f*g who fights once or twice a year against guys he's expected to beat.

Now what is wrong with that?

First of all, Gabriel Rosado was not ranked in the top 10 at MW. Secondly, Ishida was not ranked in the top 10 at 160 either. Ishida was coming off two consecutive wide decision losses. So the "3-4 times against top 10 opponents" is actually false. Macklin was top 5, Stevens is #9, i'll give you those two.

"Guys he's expected to beat." Guess what? GGG was/is expected to beat all 4 of his "top 10 opponents" this year.

Although I know what you mean about the "nobody picked Guerrero", relatively nobody. But there was 8 credible "experts" who picked Guerrero to win or "pick em" fight vs 14 who picked Floyd.

Emmanuel Steward - Pick em fight
    Roberto Duran - Guerrero
    Dan Rafael - Floyd
    Kevin Iole - Floyd
    Nonito Donaire - Guerrero
Lem Satterfield - Floyd by majority decision
    Luis DeCubas Sr - Guerrero
    etc.

With Floyd Mayweather's May 5th, 2012 date looming, many boxing experts believe Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero has a chance to knock off boxing's Pound for Pound king. Here's what they had to say.

Robert Guerrero wasn't the #2 guy so the idea that Floyd became The Ring champion for that fight has never sat well with me. Guerrero was at best the #4 guy at weight and that's only if you don't give Bradley any credit for his performance against Manny Pacquiao.

I give him full credit for the Alvarez win... but the guy Guerrero beat to become the "#1 contender" is Andre Berto, a guy that at the end of the year isn't even top 10 in the division.

Let me add, Floyd should just retire now. He will be favored to beat any one from 140-154. So he will never get any credit.

Unreasonable fan #1: "Well, then he should move up to 160 and fight a top 3 Middleweight. He should test himself if he's really that great."

Because being a former Super Featherweight legitimately beating the 154 champion at 36 years old isn't already testing himself enough.

          Sergey Kovalev or Adonis Stevenson.

At this point I favour Kovalev.

          Campillo - 3 rounds KO
          White - 3 rounds KO
          Cleverly - 4 rounds KO
          Sillakh - ?

          No home fights.

It will go to Mayweather or Garcia though imo, the disparity in media focus is too great. Stevenson has an outside shot because he knocked off two US champs.

            1. THE RING’s Nos. 1 and 2 contenders fight one another. 2. If the Nos. 1 and 2 contenders chose not to fight one another and either of them fights No. 3, No. 4 or No. 5, the winner may be awarded THE RING belt if the Editorial Board deems the contenders worthy.

It still doesn't sit right with me that beating a guy I had ranked #5 when he fought Floyd was apparently a win that warranted lineal championship status.

You had him ranked #5, but The Ring, ESPN, Yahoo, etc all had him as a top 3 WW.

Bradley, he has earned his respect this year. Golovkin has had a great run too and Floyd fighting two times this year could get him the votes too. I'm going with Bradley though.....

Floyd was #1, Marquez was #2, Robert was #3. Not many people recognized Timothy's win over Manny.

I chose Garcia due to his very impressive win over Matthysse. You can easily make claims for Mayweather & Rigo though. Besides those 3 I don't know who else could get it.
