Also its more sacrasm, he's not really trashing Alvarado, he's writing in the tone of a keyboard warrior that the article is about. It reads as if he agrees with him stopping tbh...

The only coward I see is the one that wrote this article...

Lyle Fitzsimmons has always been a slimeball and stinks of someone who has never set foot in a ring. He has no conception at all of what it takes to get in there. Calling any fighter a coward, especially Alvarado, after that last fight is disgusting. Fitzsimmons has never shown any intellectual grasp of boxing when writing about it, generally he is dead wrong the way he talks about fights, styles, and picks.

Someone earlier posted that he is influenced by Jim Rome which I think sums it up. He just degrades and insults fighters personally seem controversial. In the end it is ignorant and pathetic, Tim Bradley did what it took to win. Alvarado fought far to aggressively at the beginning and it caught up with him. Bradley won his fight and good Ole' Lyle calls him a coward. Alvarado got off the canvas four times and poured his soul into that fight when his corner stopped it. Why did they stop it? because they knew he was beaten and to continue was to sacrifice his career going forward. They knew they had fought the wrong fight already. Come back better next time, Alvarado has the character to come back from a loss and do better. He's shown that before because he is far from a coward, he is a warrior.

Lyle doesn't understand what boxing is about, other generic and foolish remarks such as, Joe Frazier doesn't belong in the hall of fame, are embarrassing. Frazier is an all time warrior, clearly Lyle hasn't seen one before and doesn't understand what it even means. Often times the press and sports media in particular like to find the two most polar opinions and have them square off. This is why Lyle has a career because no matter how foolish and distanced from reality, they think it appeals. The writers that write like this are cowards because they are scared to buck the trend. Why have an interesting voice and talk rationally when you can impersonate Jim Rome and go with the flow. That is true cowardice, Then again I just wrote three paragraphs responding to this nonsense. So sadly cowards like this are going to get by in the sports market writing articles that fail to even breach the standard of mediocre.

Alvarado ran in the last Rios fight. Like a coward. Ruslan just cut the ring off better than Rios and got to him better. He should have never won against rios.

STRONG join date to-lurk-to post count-to post content-ratio but relax bro, the article was meant to be a joke. it's all SARCASM. He doesn't really think Alvarado is a coward, quitter, etc.... He's writing from the perspective of the "keyboard warriors" as he says, who THEY have been slamming Alvarado and making idiotic remarks about him quitting, etc.

Would Victor vs Alvarado end with a dual quit on the stool between rounds 8 & 9?

            J/k, you fought well Mike.

              A**Clown Lyle Fitzsimmons

First, Timothy Bradley eschews the very fighting style that got him into their good graces seven months ago and elects to (gasp!) use clear advantages in hand and foot speed to make a potentially compelling slugfest into a far-less-titillating 12-round clinic over frustrated plodder Juan Manuel Marquez.

              “Desert Storm,” my eye.

Then, seven days later, one of the guys to whom the toughies point as an example of all that’s worthwhile in a boxing ring – Mike Alvarado – gets his senses handed to him over the back half of a brawl with Ruslan Provodnikov, and (gasp!) surrenders on his stool between rounds 10 and 11 rather than prolonging the carnage for six more brain-rattling minutes.

And you call yourself a fighter, Alvarado? Pshaw.

In explaining his lumpy-faced sacrilege afterward, the now-twice-beaten Denver wannabe was clearly in violation of the tough guy bylaws when he said, “It was not worth taking more punishment because the damage could be permanent. It was just not my night.” [Click Here To Read More]
So if I'm reading this correctly, getting your face bashed in and facing the possibility of permanent brain damage is a badge of honor? So we've learned nothing from Gerald McClellan or Levander Johnson? Is anyone to take this writer serious? A badge of honor? Is he ****ing kidding me? So a fighter who favors his health, is somewhat a coward because he didn't let his opponent completely immobalize him for life? Can someone please explain this too me? Can we get this writer and smash his hands with a hammer to see if he'll want to continue as a "badge of honor"? Is this possible? Did boxingscene really allow this ass clown to write this and display it as the monkey ***** it is? I would expect this type of journalism to be displayed on a rookie site, but not one was established as boxingscene. WTF is this character? He wouldn't/couldn't last more than a round or two with either of these fighters, but yet he belittles one because he had general concern for his health? **** you Fitzsimmons, you're decomposing trash next to the highway. You should never be able to voice your opinion in LIFE ever again.

I understood it was satire right from the beginning, but the writing just isn't pleasurable to read. It's **** writing.

It is poorly written, and that's probably why a lot of people have misconstrued it but he has a valid point.
All the Chairborne Rangers who clog up the forums deserve nothing but ridicule and contempt. Alvardo had nothing left, why should he risk his future health to please a bunch of immature muppets? If it had been a different sport and he had stopped competing purely because he was losing then you can call him a quitter, but he was getting his ****in head pounded in and couldn't do anything to stop it. He had given everything he had and it wasn't enough. That's nothing to be ashamed of, he just lost to the better man on the night.

Hes being sarcastic.... He is talking how a "keyboard warrior" would talk. You know those idiots who would call Alvarado a quitter even though he was taking a beating. Those idiots that talk trash about how Bradley fought Marquez but still talk trash about him after his fight with Ruslan. He shown heart but he also shown far more ******ity in that fight.
